It feels like Steve Garrett has been on the run forever. And for a young man, who started out planning to be a cowboy, he has come a long way in the wrong direction. Wanted by the law, he is also laying low to avoid some thugs bent on revenge. Montana is a big place, and Steve figures he can hide out for a good while. But one day everything changes. Steve learns that his little brother Beau has leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant. If Steve's bone marrow is a match, it'll be Beau's only real chance at survival. Steve has no choice but to risk his freedom - and his life - by going home.
Blue Moon is Marilyn Halvorson's second book in the Orca Soundings series. Bull Rider was an ALA Quick Pick nominee. When she is not caring for cattle on her ranch, Marilyn spends her time writing.
The book Blood Brothers has a very different perspective of Canada. Canada is usually associated with the stereotypes that people are always very kind, the climate is always cold and Canadian's say things like "eh" or "about". I like that this book takes a "wild west" sort of cowboy theme with the characters and setting instead of sticking to the regular Canadian stereotypes. The importance of family is very clear throughout the book as it is the main theme. Steve is willing to risk his life to save his brothers. Marilyn Halvorson gives us very realistic characters and dialogue that most people can't relate to personally but understand them because of her vivid descriptions. This gives the book excitement. The book is a great read and the amount of action in the dialogue keeps you turning pages. Overall the reason I liked the book was that it was original.
Blood Brothers is about a guy named Steve who is in Butte, Montana, and is working at a chop shop. He soon finds out that his brother, Beau, has leukemia and has to be tested to see if he has a bone marrow match as his brother. Steve has to travel back to Canada where Beau lives after fleeing from the country years ago because of a dangerous enemy, who called himself Romero. Steve walks into the office of the chop shop and tries to get his pay for the week, but the staff knock him out and send him to a place that is unknown to Steve. Steve's co-worker, Leroy, tries to save him and help him get back to Canada. Will Steve get into Canada alive? If so, will his tests pass? I picked this book because it looked like a good book that I would enjoy reading. I would recommend this to people who like realistic fiction.
