Everything we have we've been given. Even our very lives are a gift from God, given so we can live to give, not live to get. Yet it is our tendency in life to absorb, to take in without distribution resulting in a "souring" of all that is good and a separation from all that is intended. In The Life You Were Born to Give , David McKinley helps readers shift their focus from getting all they can out of life to giving their lives away, for Christ. Guiding them through the book of Romans, the transformational message "Recommended for readers looking for a basic approach to spiritual growth." -Don Morgan, Aspiring Retail
That's meant to be reassuring, not a slam: if you're the target audience, you'll probably be very delighted at what you get here. The target audience, however, is limited, so unless your library serves a signficant SB population, you might want to take a pass on this one. Focused on the Book of Romans and centered around the idea that a Christian should be excessively generous, this devotional is not meant to be read straight through, but studied chapter by chapter, alone or in a small group. Statements in certain chapters make it clear that this book is not meant for welcoming congregations, so please keep that in mind as well when making a purchase decision.
Still, nothing here falls too far afield from what you might expect, and this is a perfectly serviceable Bible study for the right reader. An optional purchase for most libraries.
