This is a series of graphic novels that are easily defined as action thrillers. A Chechen terrorist is recruited by the CIA to infiltrate a cabal of industrialists who secretly finance the destabilization of areas in order to profit from the exploitation of that area’s resources. The insider rises to the top of the food chain in a series of violent confrontations and explosions. Does she complete her mission by the CIA or does she join the enemy?
Despite the bouts of violence, this is an intelligent work, rich in political and economic motives for its antagonists. None of the villains are “just evil”, they all have rational motivation, i.e. intense greed. The art well done with attention paid to realistic equipment, weapons, and machinery. But you have to pay attention to the plot and dialogue or you might be easily lost.
Don't read this if it's your entry into the series- I was lost the entire time. It could have pulled off *** if I was in tune with everything but I cannot see it reaching beyond average.
It's typical fancy weapons drama that contains a lot of action yet little intrigue. The characters seem well crafted but I wasn't rooting for or hating anybody. There are good relationship mechanics but they are short-lived. Literally. There is way too much impossible escape which always grates on my nerves but the aforementioned death was refreshing. I found it strange that this book seven is the end of the first season- I'm pretty sure that that is the longest Franco-Belgian style season that I know of.
The art stinks. No... it's not bad at all but it's not good either. It looks sloppy and is very lacking in detail. The coloring is awful as well.
Good ending, and not what I expected. Very enjoyable. Lots of action. I just wish they had the kindle version of this book, as the artwork is much brighter and really stands out on the kindle compared to paper. If the second season is ever released on kindle in English, I will probably buy it. Recommended.
