Stephanie Berget was born loving horses and found her way to rodeo when she married her own, hot cowboy. She and her husband traveled throughout the Northwest while she ran barrels and her cowboy rode bucking horses. She started writing to put a realistic view of rodeo and ranching into western romance. Stephanie and her husband live on a farm, located along the Oregon/Idaho border. They raise hay, horses and cattle, with the help of Dizzy Dottie, the Border Collie and Big Al, team roping horse extraordinaire.
A bitter-sweet romance, one where the past clashes with the present, making the future a very insecure place to be. As Marlene returns to the place of her disgrace, one where she has left a plethora of hurt feelings, she knows that she won't be met with open arms, but rather with distrust and animosity. Meeting up with Bose again makes her realise just how much she has lost, but in doing so she has the chance to correct some of the mistakes in her life. Wendy was a surprise to Marlene, but one that brings a level of fulfillment that she never expected. The story is well written, albeit heartbreaking and although one has to surmise some of the background to the story, there is enough information to fill the reader in as to past history. One cannot help but feel sympathy for Marlene and Wendy is a delightful addition to the story. Bose is the kind of guy you want to have your back and despite his reservations, his willingness to forgive is commendable. I enjoyed this book and was happy that it came to a satisfying conclusion. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
A sweet small town romance. Marlene returns to her hometown to settle her uncle's estate. She's given an icy welcome from the town folks. She made some bad decisions in her past and they don't forget easily. Meets Wendy her uncle's neighbor and instantly bonds with her, she's about the same age as her daughter. Her ex Bose comes to her rescue many times and they become friends. Tragedy throws them together but can they get a happy ending. If you like sweet romance, you'll enjoy this.
I received an ARC of this book from the author and this is my honest review. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The author pulled me into the story and I had to keep reading. I liked the characters and the storyline and especially liked the way it ended. This is a standalone even though it is part of a series and no cliffhanger. I highly recommend this book. I look forward to reading more books by Stephanie Berget.
I have to say this book made me laugh made me cry and overall was such a wonderful story. All main characters needed a second chance and even though their road to happiness was filled with so much sadness. Marlene and Bose both have many problems to get thru and with the help of Wendy they might just find what all of them want and need. You will love this story from the beginning until the end.
She had to come home she had no other place to go, if it hadn't t been for her dead uncle leaving her his place she didn't know what she would have done. Everyone hated her here including her daughter .
The fourth book in the Sugar Coated Cowboys series. Marlene has come back to the town that hates her, having no where else to go. She blew it with her ex and their daughter, and her high school sweetheart. She has changed, but no one wants to give her the benefit of the doubt. Except Wendy, the young girl next door. Another good story. Looking forward to more by this author.
Marlene has gone through many different transitions in her life, most bad choices. Emotional story of coming home and making changes and well worth reading.
