Welcome to Aurora Falls. Home of platter-sized pancakes, Northern Lights, and... a lake full of finned immortal warriors in search of their mates. This mountain getaway is full of sexy shimmering secrets just waiting to be revealed…

Mikah wanted more from life than just being a boat builder’s son. He craved adventure and knowledge from the unknown world. When an offer gives Mikah the opportunity he has only dreamed about, he doesn’t hesitate to take it. But the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, and Mikah’s journey of a lifetime has turned into a nightmare with no end. Now the only thing that can save him from the curse that plagues his clan is something he never thought he’d have: a soulmate.

Maia is a woman on a mission to find a fresh start. From small town USA to the even smaller town of Aurora Falls, she finds herself surrounded by stories of an enchantress, mermaids, and something more hidden beneath the Sapphire Lake. But the stories also attract tourists, and for a budding tattoo artist in a new town, tourists are her bread and butter.

Both have been burned by Fate in the past and try to resist the feelings that bring them together. One thing is certain, they need each other to find the freedom from their pasts that they so desperately crave.

- Tamsin’s voice drifted over the water as she chanted her spell, “A love so true, the earth rejoiced. A betrayal so cruel, the stars cried. -
This is my favorite quote from the book, it is tragic and romantic.

Mikah was a viking that was cursed with his fellow shipmates to become mermen until they found their one true love. Mikah is a true bookworm-romantic who is not looking to fall in love quickly but to court and woo his partner like in all the romance books he loves to reads.

Maia is a divorced tattoo artist looking for a new start that she finds in Aurora Falls a town surrounded by a myth of mermen. A subject she always loved - so much she has a merman tattoo.

This book is a great read but I love all things Mermaid and all things Mythology so this story was truly entertaining to me.

I would have liked a little more character development and background to the myth to make the book a longer read, but that’s a personal preference.

I would recommend this book to everyone who likes a boy meet girl insta-romance and everyone who adores all things mermaid.

I was sent this ARC by the author in exchange for a spoiler free honest review.

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

Turning The Tide is a magical, enchanted, sweet, slow-build romance that left me with many happy, contented sighs! Every time I see a new mermaid/merman romance I am snatching them up fast because I just don't find too many of them. And these Aurora Falls stories are incredibly appealing and beautifully romantic, especially Turning The Tide. I fell in love with these amazing characters and the way the story kept me diving back in had me one very satisfied reader. Jules Tyler may be a new to me author, but after reading this book, I am now following her with a vengeance.

This has got to be one of the most sweet and sexy romances I have read this summer. The slow build was PERFECT and something I really enjoyed. Nothing felt rushed. It was all magical and beautiful and one book I am looking forward to reading again SOON!

I give this AMAZING story a SWEET, ROMANTIC FIVE BRIGHT SHINING STARS!

This is not only the first book of Jules Tyler’s I’ve had the pleasure of reading, but it is also the first book with a mermaids/merman theme.

The prologue that opened up the story was exciting and drew me in right away. I found the first chapter—written from Mikah’s POV—up until he and the heroine (Maia) met to be slow and a little dragging, but after that the story really picked up and I couldn’t put it down.

The plot moved fast, and I enjoyed reading from both POV’s. I felt there was a slight lack in getting to know the characters a little more, but otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed this story.

The happy ending was beautiful, and I look forward to checking out more books by Jules Tyler.

This is actually the first mermaid book I’ve read so I really didn’t know what to expect – I just kept thinking of Ariel, the Little Mermaid and singing lobsters. This is not a Disney movie! Mikah and Maia are a wonderful couple, the way they bump into each other had me giggling and basically the little things throughout the book kept me smiling. Turning the Tide is worth the read! The characters are lovable whether they are the sweet and romantic, like Mikah, or the sarcastic Maia and even the grumpy Ragar is wonderful. I love the idea behind the stories and am hoping the other books in this series make smile and my heart swoon as much as this one did.

This is my first merman romance and I totally enjoyed it! Mikah and Maia have such chemistry and I liked the fact that Maia had a few weeks to consider what she discovered about Mikah when he had to leave abruptly. I enjoyed a glimpse into the history of the curse and some of the other (hopefully) future characters and members of this tight knit community. It is truly a story of new beginnings and a fresh start. This book is part of a five author collaborative and I can't wait to read all of them. Author Tyler's book was awesome and reeled me in for the other books coming in this first series of Mountain Mermaids.

Let me just say that I love this book! I haven’t read anything like it! I mean sure I’ve read a little about mythology but this one is in a league of its own! The immediate bond that Mikah and Maia have upon meeting is amazing. They just immediately fall into comfortability! Maia’s tattoo shows that the universe was drawing them together long before they ever met. I love how they gave dating a chance through a couple moon cycles before the curse was broken! I cant wait to see what the next book holds!

True Love

I loved Jules Tyler's Turning the Tide!! We meet Mikah who wants to fall in love and has been waiting for his true love. Maia is a tattoo artist in Aurora Falls and also new to the small town. Once they meet its instant chemistry and sparks with every touch. But their time is limited and Mikah has to let Maia know the truth before then. Time goes so fast and he lost his chance to say something...
Ahhh I absolutely loved it!! From their first meeting, which was funny. I really like the slow build up to the romance. The ending was sweet and everything I wanted.

Jules Tyler has written a lovely and romantic tail...I mean tale, lol! Who wouldn’t want to be the true love and mate to a hunkious (yep, I made that word up) merman, who has the rich history of being a viking but the passion of a skilled lover? Maia is bewildered and takes a huge risk to find out just how precious Mikah is, in Turning The Tide: Mountain Mermaids: Sapphire Lake.

Something even more exciting is that this is one of five different stories by a group of amazing authors.

Great novella

I liked this one better than the Moxie North novella. This one had good chemistry and timing. Could have been even better if it was longer. Teaser at the end for Mikah’s brother, I would like to see play out. Not sure if they authors really flushed out their universe enough. The terms to break the curse were different here than the last one. Guess we’ll see how it continues.

Great story!

I didn't really know what to expect jumping into this story, it was my first mermaid tale and completely out of my normal genre. However I found this story to be beautifully phenomenal! It was told and written in such a superb way that it doesn't even matter that I don't typically read this type of book. The story takes you in, and you feel apart of Micha and Maias world.

Turning the Tide takes the reader into the world of mermaids and mermen and I loved every fantasy filled amazing page. This is an entertaining, quick read that captivated me from the time I read the blurb until I finished the beautiful novella and I am definitely looking forward to reading more books in this series. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

A lovely sweet read but I was annoyed at Mikah not telling Maia the truth before having sex with her.
The fact he was annoyed with himself was good and he gave Maia all the time she wanted before committing to each other.
Micah’s brother Ragar was a bit of a handful. Will be fun to read his story.
