“Do you want to hear a bad cat joke? Just kitten.” Illustrations bring the silliness to a whole new level in this book of jokes kids will adore. Every joke is illustrated!
This illustrated book by the New York Times –bestselling creators of the Happiness Is . . . project will leave your family in stitches. The World’s Best Jokes for Kids Volume 1 is filled with hundreds of corny, brilliant, and silly jokes—each paired with a small drawing that’s a sweet comic gem in itself. It’s the perfect book for road trips, rainy days, or those special moments when kids and parents can laugh together.
This is a perfect little joke book for children! I love telling my preschoolers jokes and they will bring me jokes too, so I was happy to get this title. The book is put together with small individual drawings for each joke with roughly one to three jokes per page. I really liked the layout of the book. Several jokes were ones I’ve heard but always seem to forget, and many were new to me. Here are a few cute jokes I really liked.. What do you call having your granny on speed dial? ... instagran!
What do you call a positive bunny? .... a hoptimist!
Thank you to Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for the chance to read through these fun jokes. This will be featured on my blog December 9, 2018. www.colecampfireblog.com LanaLCole@yahoo.com
Right before the first joke appears, there’s a warning sign, literally. It reads: Danger! This book contains a lot of silly, corny, brilliant, and funny jokes. Guess which of those four adjectives is the most on-the-nose. What do you call a bear with no ears? B. Yes! Spelling jokes are my kind of humor. And computer humor: what do you call a bee from the United States? USB. Even when the joke itself doesn’t hit the mark, the illustrations make up for it. There’s the joke so old it was sorta the title of an REO Speedwagon album, but if you look at the way the fish is looking up at the guy trying to tune it. . . Then there are others, like the Frozen and Bison jokes, that are pretty cringy—I was warned, after all—but would probably make some kids laugh. Sometimes there’s a joke like Nutella, irrelephant, and perman-ant that make me wonder how many kids would get the humor, since they might be too young to know those words. Even I don’t know what a stomata is. They used one of my favorite jokes, about time flying and then fruit flying. Don’t know what that says about me, especially when they include the poultry in motion line. I will go as far as to say this made me chuckle more often than I thought I would, though it certainly brought the groans as well.
P.S. There’s also The World’s Best Jokes for Kids Volume 2, because one collection of groaners wasn’t enough. But it appears they used up all the good ones in the first volume, because this one wasn’t anywhere near as good or funny. Went through almost half of the book without laughing once, and didn’t even groan that much, because there just wasn’t anything there. At that point I gave up.
MY THOUGHTS: I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
Corny, fun and brilliant! I love this little book that introduces children to the art of telling jokes. I should mention that my husband saw it on my desk and claimed it.
Sometimes, it’s great to read a book that reminds one of how it was to tell a joke when a child. We laugh at the gentle simplicity of the jokes kids tell. Even if corny, just the fact that the child is so excited about saying the joke, the look of mischievous anticipation on their face while the one they’re sharing the joke with struggles to find the answer, and finally with how infectious their antics are when they finally blurt out the answer knowing they stumped another… it’s delightful!
I asked to review this and other books like it because of the memories such books return to me and the simple joy of new experiences of fun and comic relief they produce now with the younger generations in my life being introduced to joke telling for the first time.
Great fun. Good selection of quick jokes, and cute illustrations accompanying them. I particularly enjoyed some of the fresher pop cultures references, like Frozen and Instagram. There are some well-worn jokes in this collection (e.g., tuna fish). But there's also a Star Wars pun, an excellent Shakespeare joke, and one about a polar bear I'll be telling for weeks. Not to mention, a couple of the jokes were downright hilarious.

This joke book for kids has some old familiar jokes, but they could be new to some. The pictures really help kids understand the humor. I have had to explain a lot of jokes to classrooms of children before. This book does that for you. I laughed out loud quite a bit. There are jokes on many subjects. Using humor to introduce a subject in a classroom or in a presentation or a website really grabs attention. This book could really help with that.
These really are the world’s best jokes. By the way, the exaggeration rates have gone 1000% percent in the last year. Most of the jokes were new to me and the illustrations made the jokes funnier. There are a few riddles too, but those I’ve heard before many times. Some jokes I really liked are: What do you call a dinosaur wearing a blindfold? A doyouthinkhesaurus? Why did the scarecrow win a medal? Because he was outstanding in his field. My sister and I often laugh about how competitive we are. But I laugh more. And last but not the least What is a bat’s motto? Hang in there. This one is my motto as well. This book has 130 pages full of such jokes. Thank you to Net Galley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for giving me an ARC of this book.
I received a copy of The World’s Best Jokes for Kids Volume II by Lisa Swerling & Ralph Lazar, from the publisher via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.
Sterling and Lazar’s compilation for kids is chalk full of fun jokes. These two volumes, really brought me back to my childhood and reminded me of a book I had growing up.
Some of the jokes included in the first book, I had heard before. However I was pleasantly surprised to read so many that were new to me. The modern references that mentioned such examples as: current technology and pop culture, will appeal to the children of today.
The World’s Best Jokes for Kids Volumes I & II would be ideal to share with the whole family. Teachers could share them with their students and these books would also make for great gifts.
I would highly recommend these volumes for ages 8 and up.
Lisa Swerling and Ralph Lazar have cranked out a number of joke books for kid's of every age group, and I started today with volume one cos, me being a Creter of habit (my last name, used as a pun. Top THAT!) that is how it's done! Some dry ones but some are profound without even trying! Examples: Q:Why did the chicken cross the road? A: To track you down! Q:Knock knock. A: Who's there? Q: "THE CHICKEN!" There's more in there! Read for yourself and I hope you enjoy! Four stars Humor rules!
This is a fun compendium of jokes and riddles that will be enjoyed by both kids and adults. Some examples:
Why are hairdressers never late for work? They know all the short cuts.
How much room is needed for fungi to grow? As mushroom as possible.
What treat is never on time? Choco-late
What kind of lights did Noah use on the ark? Flood lights.
If any of these made you smile, this is a book for you or a child that you know. There are cartoon like illustrations with each joke. These add to the fun.
Great jokes for kids! I love that it is illustrated and the illustrations are full of whimsy. I read this courtesy of netgalley.com but I cannot wait to buy this for my kids (or myself, for that matter).
