Never Letting You Go

Rate this book
Kash-
I believe in soulmates. Why? Because I'd met mine at summer camp when I was eleven years old.
I was convinced that we'd be together forever, having moved in together right after high-school and working our way through college and our careers. I couldn't have been happier if I tried.
So, imagine my surprise when I come home from work to a packed up house, and a boyfriend intent on leaving me.
I spent the next ten years mourning the loss of that love. If I'm honest, I never got over it.

Maddox-
I believed in soul mates, why? Because I'd found mine at summer camp when I was twelve years old.
When you're young, you think you have all the answers. You don't.
Convinced that I wasn't good enough for the man who'd stolen my heart; I thought I was doing the right thing by leaving.
I spent every day of the next ten years regretting every single day I was without him.
Imagine my surprise when little girls in our hometown come up missing, and Kash needs my help in finding them.
He doesn't trust me at first, and why would he? I just have to remind him that he's the other half of my soul.

*** A sleek, fast moving tale of kidnapped girls, few clues, and the painstaking efforts. It's also a story of a lost love and a second chance.
* Police Officer, Kash, 30, devoted cop,

never had another relationship after Maddox left him 10 years ago. He still feels need and yearning.
So, when he needs help on a serious case, he hesitates, but does reach out to P.I. Maddox.
* Maddox/Dax, 31, is big, tall, tattooed and tough.

Young girls are being taken and no cops in the neighboring county have a clue. After deep investigating and manpower, they get a few breaks.

We see them work their regular cases, and also work on this new one. Maddox's and Kash's feelings are on display, and when the case is solved they will talk, and settle their issues.

Jenny Wood gives us big-hearted men, interesting scenarios, and the hot sexiness we love.

We've read about some of these couples in previous tales in this wonderful series. How will the sex trafficking case resolve? Will Maddox and Kash re-unite?

So good! I loved the men, the town, the camaraderie and the hints of what may come next. We are grabbed by this story and we never want to put it down.

I highly recommend this whole series, and each book can stand alone. We get a fantastic epilogue.
ENJOY !

Love the author - possible spoilers.

Hate second chance romance. Especially when one of the MC’s leaves the other for stupid reasons, ignores their existence for YEARS, has sex with a bunch of other people, the whole time stating how much they ‘love/loved’ the other MC every single day they were apart. Ummm FYI, that’s not love.
I tried to love this book because I love the author, but I just couldn’t get past Dax and his selfish, self centered-ness. And I really couldn’t get over how EASILY Kash folded. I also didn’t like how there had to be a sudden unrequited love from Dax’s sister towards his best friend who is dating another guy. I really hope that isn’t a lead up to a ménage book.
I kind of wish I would have skipped over this one. It wasn’t like her other hero books and just left a bad taste in my mouth. 😕

I think this one might be my favorite.
That first chapter, omg... I... cried... not even cute cry, but like, ugly, farrah from teen mom cry. It was intense. I didn't think that Maddox could redeem himself, I really didn't. He did though, because jsut as much as Kash loved him, he loved him back just the same.
I don't want to give too much away, and I was kind of bummed that it was so short, but only because I"m selfish and i want more of them. I want more of all the guys, and I can't wait to read more about Ranger and Zayden. Wooooh!

Love this series <3 Love these guys!

Didnt like this one. The reason he left is just a piece of nonsense and who in the right mind would break up when the other one is injured. Nonsense.

I will use my vacation to catch up on the other books in this series, but once again, this Type A personality is busting out the seams and even in a panicky, heart beating out of her chest way, has decided to read out of order. GASP!!!

So, I have no reason why I took on this book, other than damn, I love the name Kash and Maddox and I had envisioned a spectactular read following the synopsis. The book did not disappoint, though it was slow burn. Kash and Maddox had been best friends then lovers and partners until Maddox decided to walk away ten years prior. Now a case requiring Maddox's help brings the man he'd never stop loving back into his live had Kash up in arms.

With a case that seems unsolvable, was happy ever after on the horizon for these two men who even Stevie Wonder could see belonged together?

*Spoilers ahead*

I am so happy to revisit this series! I really loved the heroes of this series and I think Kash and Dax are a great addition. That being said, I loved the relationship between Kash and Dax, but I was a little confused as to why exactly Dax left all those years ago. I feel like it was touched on, but not fully explained. Other than that I enjoyed the book. I did find myself very intrigued by the situation between Kody, Duncan and Marley. I really hope there is a book involving those three.

4 out of 5 for me.

Love this series!

Unlikely Heroes is such a good series from the main characters to the supporting everyone makes this story happen. I loved Kash and Dax's story young lover's at first until Dax makes a life changing decision that affects and hurts both. Fast forward ten year's to a strained reunion under difficult circumstances, anger, bitterness and a love that is still there while they race against the clock to catch a kidnapper all make this one good story! And let's not forget our crew from the previous series adding them to the group while introducing new ones.

Where do I begin?

I really loved this story and I would have given it five star's if this book was edited better. It was aggravating to have to re-read sentences to make sense of thing's. Somebody please read this book and fix the mistakes. The editor who handled this book dropped the ball. I expected a lot better from one of my favorite author's.

Fixing mistakes

What happens when the love of your life makes a mistake and leaves you?
This is a book with forgiveness at its heart.
Dex makes a mistake in leaving the man he loves. 10 years on his ex Kash is the lead detective on a important time sensitive case and he has to ask the man he never got over to help. Dex jumps at the chance to make things right.
I really enjoyed this book and it is a little angst -y and has heartbreak in but it gets the HEA in the end.

We had a bit of a wait for this book but it was totally worth it. Plus Ms. Wood has written some pretty awesome stand alones while we waited. I love this series. I just finished rereading the first 7 before reading this one. Loved it. Can't wait until the next one comes out.

Enjoyed

The story is quick paced (which I liked) but I did feel the characters relationship needed something more. I just felt Maddox needed to build more bridges before Kash forgave him. I did enjoy the story and I would definitely read more in this series.

I love Jenny Wood’s stories! She can write characters like no other.
With this story though I had trouble with the pace (it felt hurried) and the amount of characters.
Also for the first time the typos and mistakes (like the wrong name) bothered me.
The explanation why Dax left was weak and not satisfying at all for me. If you love someone that much and live in the same town, wouldn’t you try to reconnect sooner? What have you got to lose?

7/24/2018- So at first I was a little annoyed with Maddox's reasoning behind him walking out on Kash. But I got over that quick. Maddox and Kash were real sweet together and it was nice to hear from all the other guys. Alvin and Carter will probably always be my favorites but Maddox and Kash were pretty great to....

Great story

One of my favorites. This story had heartbreak and redemption. Great story about second chances. If I were to change anything it would be to make it longer. Didn't want it to end.
