Dave DeBusschere's history is most interesting. A fine forward with the University of Detroit, he entered the NBA as a Piston. Indeed, he became the team's coach in his mid-20s--pretty much unprecedented. At the same time, he entered the major leagues as a bonus baby with the Chicago White Sox and ended up winning a handful of games as a pitcher before committing himself to basketball. This is the story of the New York Knicks' magical season in 1969-1970, wehen they won the NBA championship. Lit ...more
