A fascinating, not wholly satisfying book. I picked a copy of the biography of Emory Lindquist at Dean Anderson's store in Lindsborg, because of the importance of Lindquist to Bethany College and his work on the history of Swedish immigration. The bio is informative on these matters, and thus of great interest to me as a native of central Kansas and a graduate of BC, but I don't feel like I got an understanding of Lindquist the man. There are many descriptions of his acts and character, but they don't quite add up to the person he must have been. The authors had some trouble handling the material, it appears, and so arranged it into first a chronological sketch and then into topical chapters.
