Chapman's short book offers excellent advice and stern warnings for preachers to advance in their calling with every gift and talent God has given them. Much of Chapman's exhortation is designed to raise the standards ethically, spiritually, devotionally, and growth of personal discipline. The foundation of communicating the biblical author's idea of a text to modern audiences is laid advocating for expository preaching. For all the rigorous study, discernment, reading, and conversing, never forget that preaching sermons is ultimately a spiritual endeavor where God communicates to his people what they need to build the kingdom.
If there was one drawback to this book, it would be the needless occasional flaunting of alliteration.
