A good primary source on Canadians—especially those of the Royal Canadian Regiment (RCR)—in the Italian Campaign in WWII.
The author detailed his life as he grew up, joined the Militia at a young age, transfer to Britain, and service in Italy. He wrote as one does with notes, sometimes having some irrelevant paragraphs (interesting nonetheless) in the chapters. I learned a lot from his writings, as a history buff.
I recommend this to all learners of WWII and Canada in the war.
