Book Review: Night Night Bible Stories Night Night Bible Stories is a collection of stories for children. Parents can read them a story from this book each night. It good for parents and grandparents a like. The book is done well. I enjoyed each story and it understandable for children. It was able to understand it better then reading the bible itself. It got stories from the old testament and some for the new testament. It broken down into these two parts. Though they flow together nicely in this one book. The picture are done well. I really got the story behind each one with the pictures. The words and phrases were done well. I was really enjoyed them prase that chance with each story that you read. Some of the stories I got and knew well. I also got new stories I have not known or did not remember. It was really well done for me to understand and read. Children will be able to grasp the stories being read to them and later be able to pick up the book and read themselves once they have learn to read. This book is worth having for young readers and parents. You can give it as a gift if you want or keep it yourself or for your children or grandchildren. Each story is different but they are written well. The easy to read and simple as well.

This book is a wonderful combination of Bible stories and bedtime wind-down.

The cover is nice and robust, and inviting to even littler hands. The jacket holds a picture in white and blue of sheep lying in a pasture and staring up at a starry sky—peaceful, dreamy and inviting for bedtime. Before the entire thing begins, there's a quick note to parents which explains that these are favorite Bible stories told in such a way to make a perfect bedtime read. After that, the book is broken down into the New Testament and Old Testament, each one holding 15 of the most known and loved tales.

The first thing which made me smile was found in the Table of Content. The Bible stories, while very familiar, are given interesting and cute titles such as 'The Wimpy Warrior' (the story of Gideon), ' Angels in the Sky' (angels appearing to shepherds), or 'The Nice Neighbor' (the good Samaritan). The Bible tales are written at a level young listeners are sure to understand and even comes across with very natural dialogue and vocabulary for that age group. They read like bedtime stories without losing the message. During each story, a fitting, two-line rhyme is inserted, which kids will quickly pick up on and repeat. They add fun while allowing the listener to get involved just a little bit. The prayers at the end are short, meaningful and sweet. Add a last night-night phrase with the story's main individual, and the stage is set for a comfortable sleep.

The illustrations are bright, soothing and bring across the characters and stories nicely. It's fun to glance through them, and many are easy to recognize. The prayer is accompanied by a modern day scene to bring the story back closer to home. They offer just enough to look at to keep things interesting without hyping up the tension to make sleep more difficult.

I really enjoyed the stories as well as the way they were done, and can recommend it to anyone looking for this type of bedtime read. It's a wonderful way to introduce the Bible stories, keep them interesting and give that last bit of warmth before dreamland sets in.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I’m always looking for cute Bible Stories for little ones and this is just the cutest. The pictures really do not give this justice. But they give you just a little idea of what this precious little Bible story book is like. It has 30 Bible stories for bedtime that will work wonderful for you and your little one. There are many stories from the Old and New Testament alike. I did include a picture of the back of the book so you can read a little more about this little Bible story book.

And the pictures are just adorable! I love that they are so child like, and will capture the attention of little ones. I have been trying to imagine little boys and girls seeing this book on a shelf in a store and begging for it be a use it’s just that cute. And I can’t forget the animals. They are just as adorable and inviting. The stories are short and sweet, just long enough to keep your childs attention for a few minutes. There is just so much to love about Night Night Bible story book. You have to see it fir yourself. I highly recommend Night Night Bible Stories for your chikdren.

“Night night, Jesus, who loves us so. Who heals us–body, heart, and soul,” the chapter titled Jesus Heals ends in Amy Parker’s children’s book, Night Night Bible Stories.

~ What ~
Numbered at two-hundred-and-eight pages, this hardbound with a padded front cover targets children ages three to seven years old. With no scary scenes, it contains thirty retold stories from the Bible. Beginning with a presentation page and letter to parents, its ending has the author and illustrator’s biography.

With fifteen chapters from the Old Testament and fifteen from the New Testament, each iconic story is four to eight pages long. After a chapter title and Bible reference, the stories are retold, with two-line rhymes added. The end of the chapter has a prayer and a night night two-line saying. Without showing Jesus hanging on the cross, colorful, happy illustrations grace the pages.

~Why ~
Having given our two-year-old grandson the prior books in this series, he will love getting this book for his next birthday. I appreciate how the book covers Jesus dying for our sins and the eternal plan of salvation in a rudimentary prayer. The pictures are positive and engaging to look at for non-readers.

One of my favorite stories was A Donkey Talks, taken from Numbers 22-24 about Balaam being told by a donkey to go see King Balack. The repetitive rhyme is “Lead on, Lord. Show me the way. Help me to see. Help me to obey.” The prayer thanks God for caring and leading the way. “Night night, Balaam, and his donkey too, who saw God’s way and followed Him through” ends the chapter.

~ Why Not ~
Those who do not like books that rewrite Bible stories for children may avoid this read. Others may not approve that the stories are not always complete (i.e. the evil men are thrown in the pit when Daniel is saved by God). Due to complicated three- and four-syllable words, beginner readers may get frustrating reading it.

~ Wish ~
Attaching a ribbon marker would be helpful.

~ Want ~
If you are looking for a children’s Bible storybook to read that is simplified and contains no scary scenes except for three silhouette crosses, this is a great choice.

Night Night Bible Stories is a heartwarming book of thirty stories for bedtime, written by Amy Parker and illustrated by Virginia Allyn. Amy Parker has written many other children’s books I love, such as An Easter Prayer, A Pumpkin Prayer, Night Night, Jungle and Thank You God, for Grandma. Needless to say, I was excited about reviewing this book (and was not disappointed!).

One of my favorite stories in the book was “The World’s Bravest Queen,” a story about Esther. Another favorite story of mine was “Jesus Walks on Water.” Each of the Bible stories includes a few illustrations of people from the Biblical accounts, helping children visualize the stories. The storybook showcases a nice variety of both Old and New Testament stories. Each story is written in a clear manner and geared for kids approximately ages 3 to 7. I like how Parker lists the Bible passage that each story is based on (such as when Parker lists Exodus 2 – 15 for the story “Splitting the Sea). I also like how Parker weaves in some lines of poetry based on each story. In “A Miracle in a Stable,” she writes, “A gift of grace, this holy One, / a gift of love, God’s own Son,” along with two other lines of poetry and a sweet prayer. It's a great book! I received this book for review.

Comprised of 30 Bible stories from both the Old and New Testament, written to be read aloud before bedtime, and accompanied by charming and colorful illustrations.

Each story includes a Bible reference from where the story was taken, as well as a rhyming poem pertaining to the story, and nighttime prayer. The stories have very simplified language, but the print is not large enough for super young readers, so it seems to be a perfect read aloud for pre-school age children.

The illustrations are charming and complement the style of this Bible storybook well. The book is hardcover bound with a slightly padded front cover, with sturdy slick pages that will last well through the years, though best keep out of reach of babies. This would make an excellent gift for a new young one.

A delightful book that introduces young children to 30 of the most well known stories in the Bible. Perfect for sharing and reading aloud.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This is an absolutely delightful book that my daughter insists sits by her bed so we can read it whenever we put her down. She is almost 4 and is enthralled by the illustrations and loves the 30 stories they included in here. Each story is a perfect blend of information without being too much and there is a perfect amount of illustrations to keep kids interested in what is going on.

I love how each story ends with a prayer and talks about going night night, it is great addition to ones bedtime routine for sure!

I think it is right on target for kids around 3-4 as there is a decent bit of words, but that is partly why I love it!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Night time stories are wonderful – they do a great job at relating to the kiddos and winding them down for the evening slumber. This book is no exception. I love how it sums up popular bible stories and then ends with a prayer and little things to say “night night” to. The ending of each story is my favorite. The pictures are beautiful, but I wish there were a few more. There are a little too many words and not enough pictures for my almost 2 year old daughter, but I think she will enjoy it more when she gets older.
Thank you Thomas Nelson for my gifted copy!

It’s a rare occasion for me to pick up and read a children’s picture book, but something about Night Night Bible Stories: 30 Stories For Bedtime nudged me to do just that. I’m convinced the sweet cover had something to do with it. Honestly, who can pass on such cuteness? 😉

In a creative way, Night Night Bible Stories: 30 Stories For Bedtime showcase stories from the book of Genesis to the book of Revelation through colorful illustrations and easy to follow paragraphs. I think young readers will like how this book flows from the story of creation to the story of redemption in a way that is easy to understand. And to add some extra sweetness to bedtime, there are short rhymes and prayers following after each story.

To sum it up, I think this book is a wonderful encouragement for readers of tender ages to discover more of God’s word and be reminded of his great love. And what better time to do that than at bedtime, right?

I have read several children’s Bible story books recently and I really enjoyed this one. The book includes 30 Bible stories; 15 from the Old Testament and 15 from the New Testament. Each story lasts about 3-5 pages and includes beautiful illustrations. Each story includes a reference to the original scripture, along with a a simplified story that will be easy for children to understand. At the end of each story, there is a simple one lesson for children to remember from that particular story, along with a short prayer.

I liked the length of each story and it provides a great message before winding down before bed. The stories are the perfect length to keep children engaged and the illustrations are colorful and fun. The illustrations for the story of Noah were my favorite!

Thank you to the publisher, Thomas Nelson, for sending me a review copy of this book.
