One final duel remains. A showdown between the righteous and the unholy.
Kealin and Tulasiro journey North with haste and the half-elf of Urlas knows he may not return. His challenger has haunted his mind and struck down his love ones; Vankou, the god of death, will not take another. Kealin will have vengeance for the fallen. Armed with the god-sword gifted to him by a fallen deity and the blood of the Dwemhar surging in his veins, Kealin prepares for the final battle.
But the seas he once sailed upon have changed much in the last few years. The world quakes as all the energies of magic swirl towards a great gathering in the heavens above the dark parts of the north. A great return is upon the living realm.
The time of the Dwemhar has come. When at last the final threads of both the Stormborn of legend and Dwemhar of old converge, Kealin will discover the terrible truth and the identity of his true adversary... an entity that even the ancient races failed to destroy... an entity that threatens all of the ascended and living alike.
This book was the end of a major character arc for Kealin, and the beginning of a new journey. His personal growth was admirable, as he faced so much pain, and bullshit. But he also faces a lot of promise, which gives me hope for his future. The ending was really bittersweet for me, and I'm a mix of emotion. (I was expecting a bit more death to be honest. ha.) As always the characters have many layers much like ogres and onions, and the battle scenes are killer.
This book has a terrible cliffhanger. Is this is he final installment of this series? Kealin is still a pawn in a giant power struggle. All the while being selfish, hotheaded and incapable of looking at the bigger picture which is constantly costing his loved ones their lives.

Kealin faces more and more some people die others not so much the souls return protected but not the way you’d think. Just so many things happen. So I’ll just say read it can’t wait till the next set of stories!
My heart is following Kealin’s travels throughout all his pain and happy times. I am for this adventure! Book 5 and 6 of this Rogue Elf series was a lot to endure! The characters to me are rememberable - I only hope his friends/small group continue on with Kealin to the end. Starting book 7 soon. I believe by the time I get to book 11 the outcome will be good. Kealin is quite the brave warrior/hero with ups and downs. I am feeling this series and all the quest/missions which come about! Let’s go book 7!
I've always enjoyed reading the journeys and tribulations of out rouge half Elf. I also can't get enough of J.T. Williams fight scenes and the twist ant turns, and betrayal in this book knocked me to my knees as surely as it did our stalwart rouge. I look forward to the continued misadventures of Kealin and his new found ride or die companions. Never a dull moment. MI.
It follows Kealin, a half-elf, as he embarks on a perilous journey northward for a final showdown against Vankou, the god of death. Armed with a god-sword and the blood of the Dwemhar, Kealin faces a world quaking with magical energies and a gathering storm of ancient forces. The story promises epic battles, deep lore, and a confrontation with an entity that threatens both the ascended and the living
Do you like kick arse action? Love books with fabulous battle scenes? Elves, dwarves, magic ! Love this set of books ! If you love books by R.A. Salvatore the you'll love J.T. Williams books !! Unforgettable characters and a story you won't soon forget. Books you just don't want to put down. I was privileged enough to be an ARC reader for theses books and they tell an amazing tale!
Mr. Williams continues to keep one wondering where how the main character will get through this adventure, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Devastation is everywhere and the gods cannot be trusted. But can you blame them when they can be killed?
