Where Have All the Pandas Gone?

Rate this book
This book simply explains complex information about endangered species by asking questions like " Where have all the tigers gone,?" " Why are the rhinos endangered?," and "Are people saving pandas?"

Where have all the pandas gone?
From the bamboo forests of China--to near extinction. Today, there are only about 1,000 giant pandas left in the entire world.

In the well-received conversational style that sets this series apart, this book explores three basic questions about endangered species: Where have these animals gone?, Why are they disappearing?, and Are people saving them?
The Bergers explain the disappearance of not only giant pandas, but also of mountain gorillas, monkeys, tigers, rhinoceroses, and bald eagles, to name a few.

I have always thought it was so important to learn about Endangered Species in the classroom. Plus, even more now, there seem to be so much more endangered species in the planet. So, I think this book would be an excellent addition to a classroom library. I think it shows the importance of learning about endangered species while teaching students the importance on their part in what they can do to help the animals. I love the sweet illustrations and I think that this book can supply a lot of neat facts and information to students through it's pages. I also think that in a classroom, this can be a great inspiration towards an art project or a paper in class. Possibly a teacher can find a panda coloring page that students can color and surround with specific facts about endangered species they learned from the book. Also, students can write a paper from this book explaining what they have learned and why it is important to them. This might be a good time for students to take notes during the reading of this book in the classrooom to achieve a good amount of information for a paper or project. Lastly, students can even write a poem or a haiku poem about the surroundings or endangered species that they learned about from this book. In the same way, students can also do an acrostic poem for PANDA to describe all the realistic characterstics of the animals to describe their qualities. I think that book can be a great tool for a teacher.

So many endangered and extinct animals. It is time we saved all life, including plants, from completely disappearing.

Where Have All the Pandas Gone?- I think that adults could benefit from reading this book. It is simple and to the point on the various animals that are on the endangered species list. Each page includes: a new animal that is on the endangered species list, what the animal is like, why it is on the list, and how or what we can do to help. This book should outrage people. It is appalling to find that animals are nearing extinction for reasons such as the improvement of our personal needs like beauty. The material I read in here was not new information to me, but it was a reminder to the significant impact each species has on each other. The world is filled with problems and I think adults get overwhelmed and simply just chose not to inform themselves about what's going on in it in some cases. A children information books is capable of opening a large window of serious issues through just a couple paragraphs, reminding us that these things are real!
