A disappointingly relevant book. Disappointing because forty-years after its writing, many of the problems he addresses about theatre, both academic and professional, should have been addressed and solved by now. But, alas...Anyway, there are things in this book you'll passionately agree with and things you'll vehemently disagree with. But, Mr. Guthrie writes with acute honesty and humor about the state of contemporary theatre here and how to save the profession of acting. Like I said, there are things you'll definitely disagree with...But it's a simple and thought-provoking read and worth the time of any theatre practitioner.
