A Standalone Novel.

It's been seventeen years since Brother Baez, formerly Broderick Ladro, entered the monastery to fulfill his legacy, turning his back on all earthly affairs. His strange visions and doubts have steadily increased through the years and he goes on a desert retreat to make sense of it all.

Brodie's painting, The Raising of Lazarus, is endowed with the power to heal. A secret that must be guarded, as it has been since the first was painted thousands of years ago by Annas Zevi who witnessed the miraculous event.

Brodie senses that a new artist is being summoned. But who?
The players are being brought together once again to protect an ancient, unbroken legacy.

Martha, Ulla's daughter, the daughter Brodie has never seen or met, is experiencing the same visions. An unknown hand seems determined that father and daughter should meet.

Amidst a series of baffling revelations, the action moves across the USA, UK, Spain, Israel and Cyprus.
A pastor and an incredibly wealthy Las Vegas casino owner knows the secret and are hell-bent on stealing the miraculous painting for wealth and power.

Unless Brodie, his daughter, Martha, and their close friends succeed in keeping the Lazarus legacy alive and the succession unbroken, a powerful secret will fall on evil hands.

An epic battle between good and evil and a secret that humanity might not yet be ready for.

Saint Lazarus or Lazarus of Bethany, also known as Lazarus of the Four Days, was restored to life through one of Jesus' miracles, four days after his death. An undeniable miracle.
What if the miracles surrounding Saint Lazarus transcend centuries and remain a part of our everyday life?

Ken Fry weaves a masterful story about Christian beliefs, visions and miracles, about human passions and their implications on the lives of everyday people.
The painting of The Raising of Lazarus has healing powers. His creator, Brother Baez, has visions once again and strange signs are shown to him: bluebells grow overnight in the Spanish desert where he chooses to seclude himself, in a monastic retreat.

Unknown to Brother Baez, a young woman has identical visions and a bond stronger than life and faith connects the two. They have to fight evil and line up their lives in order to protect an ancient miracle that will forever live on, as long as it will serve those true at heart. But is their faith strong enough and how much are they willing to sacrifice?

A fast paced read, ideal for readers that enjoy mystical thrillers with an elaborate plot.

The Lazarus Continuum by Ken Fry is book 2 of The Resurrection Chronicles, sequel to the award-winning The Lazarus Succession. It picks up the story seventeen years later, where we find Brodie and Ulla right back in the thick of things, this time with Martha, their teenaged daughter, and Condesa Maria, the one woman who knows first-hand the awesome power of Brodie's enigmatic painting, The Raising of Lazarus. These heroes have come together to keep the miraculous artwork from falling into the hands of a pair of nefarious villains, and along the way they each discover new truths about themselves, about one another, and about the Lazarus legacy itself.

The Lazarus Continuum is just the kind of sequel I would have expected from Ken Fry; jam-packed with action and adventure, tentacles of intrigue reaching to all corners of the globe, and just a splash of the metaphysical for extra spice. It is billed as a stand-alone, and it could certainly be read as such, but do yourself a favor and start from the beginning. Ken Fry is a master at crafting wonderfully-complex characters, and it is a sheer joy see how they adapt and evolve as he throws them mercilessly into harm's way again and again. But heroes and villains and those caught somewhere in the middle aside, for me it was Martha who truly stole the show. No spoilers here, but as the offspring of two loving, yet terribly conflicted parents, Martha displayed some of the best (and possibly worst) traits of both, and she kept me guessing right up to the end.

No word yet on whether or not there will be a third book in the series, but I hope there is, and I wouldn't bet against it. Something tells me that these people aren't done getting themselves into trouble quite yet.

As regular readers of my reviews will know, I am a big fan of Ken Fry's novels, especially those with a religious conspiracy twist and The Lazarus Continuum is a continuation of that fine tradition of his. A sequel to Fry's acclaimed The Lazarus Succession, this book finds its target with unerring accuracy. The important thing for me, as a reader, is that a sequel must build on the original, develop the story and move on, into different areas of exploration. The Lazarus Continuum does exactly that, whilst still keeping many of the characters that we met and fell in love with, in The Lazarus Succession.

You don't have to have read the first book, to enjoy this, as it is a standalone story and the author does an exceptional job at dropping little gems into the story to explain the backstory from the first book. That having been said, I would still recommend reading the Lazarus Succession first, if for no other reason than it is a superb story, by the incomparable Ken Fry. When it comes to religious icons and fantastical religious conspiracy theories, I have found none better in the genre than Fry. What makes this author stand out more than most is his innate ability to make the reader believe the unbelievable and the mystical. By the end of the book, nothing surprises you, as a reader, and you just accept the fantastic, as being merely normal and expected. This is the mark of a superb author and Ken Fry is one of those.

In this story, our heroes from the first book, Brodie and Ulla are still present, but the mantle is picked up by their daughter, Martha. The healing Lazarus painting has resided for many years now in a Monastery in Spain, guarded by Abbot Louis and Brodie himself, as Brother Baez. The legend of the powers of the painting has resurfaced though and this time, two unscrupulous rogues are determined to get their hands on it. One, Silas Shepherd, a typical American Super Church pastor has dreams of immense power and immense wealth when he has this miraculous religious icon in his hands and he controls the greatest church in the world, that he will found, The Church of the Lazacrucians. The other, a ruthless, casino owner, billionaire, John D Bower, who dreams of the immense wealth the painting can bring him. They will join forces to hunt down the Lazarus painting and it will be all hands on deck for those that must protect it from the usurpers.

As always, in Fry's novels, the action is fast-paced and exciting. I read the book, essentially in one sitting and cliched as it may be, I found it impossible to put it down. The Lazarus Continuum just adds to the already magnificent body of work in the area of religious conspiracy theories by this author. I, for one, wait with bated breath to see what his next contribution will be. Fry is an author par excellence and right at the top of the "Indie Author Tree" in my opinion. This is not to be missed - a "must read".

Editor's Review:

The Lazarus Continuum is more mystical as compared to The Lazarus Succession. In the 2nd book of The Resurrection Chronicles, a new artist is being summoned ---17 years after Brodie Ladro was chosen to paint The Raising of Lazarus. Finally, the burden will be lifted from his shoulders. But who will take his place? This is the main plot. To be chosen is not easy... more so if you don't believe.

The poignant meeting of the cast of The Lazarus Succession makes the story more emotional, as Ken Fry takes us deep into the dilemma of each character. Although a standalone novel, to really understand the story in depth, reading the first book is recommended. However, Continuum has enough backstories to be understood on its own.

Ulla, The Condesa Maria, Abbot Louis, and Brodie's daughter, Martha, and Brodie himself, are all privy to an ancient secret... and must protect it at all costs.

While mystical and supernatural, it is also a suspense thriller. A Pastor looking for a religious icon to start a new church, and a casino owner, heard rumors about the painting and how the Condesa was miraculously cured... and now they are after it. This is the 2nd storyline. Bad guys, cuss words, dead people ... they cannot be avoided. For the good to be highlighted, the author must show the evil side.

The Lazarus Continuum is a mixture of religious mystery, supernatural thriller, mysticism and suspense, peppered with historical events and artifacts here and there.

I invite you all to read it.

I enjoyed this sequel to The Lazarus Succession.
We meet up with the mainat Uffington characters seventeen years after their adventures to find the painting of the Raising of Lazarus. Ulla lives in Oxfordshire, with her daughter, Martha, not far from the White Horse. Brodie has been a monk for all those years and has never met Martha. That's about to change.
Pastor Silas Shepard wants to start his own church, similar to the way L. Ron Hubbard started Scientology. Shepard needs funds, so he approaches an extremely rich casino owner for help. The two men come to an arrangement. Shepard aims to have the Raising of Lazarus as the focal point of his new church, as it's supposed to perform miracles.
The two groups find themselves embroiled in threats of violence and death. As the action moves on, there are several strange incidents that link several of the characters. They experience visions, dreams and are also seemingly able to speak to each other mentally.

A story that spans eight centuries, of religion. The paintings of the rising of Laarus, that have been lost. Said to be icons, or to hold miraculous power
Spell binding account of that time. This is the sequels and well done, intriguing as all the author’s stories are. Given audio for my voluntary review
