He's Always Been Here
She was hoping that this time she got it right. That this time she'd stay sober. After struggling with a two-year heroin addiction, Shia Sinclair decided to take back control over her life by admitting herself into rehab. With her traumatizing past forcing her religious beliefs to wither, the mention of God was cringe-worthy at this point. Trust didn't come easy for her which took her for a spiral when she found herself growing fond of a former addict, Dallas Raye. The missing puzzle piece she was hoping could possibly mend her torn, battered soul. With Dallas Raye holding a two-year sobriety under his belt, he returned to the place that changed his life and provided him with a better outlook towards it as well. Dallas never thought he'd get rid of his alcohol demon that attached itself to him, in his most vulnerable state, after the tragic loss of his best friend. His strong desire to help others through their addictions drew him back to the rehab center where he stumbled across the beautiful firecracker, Shia. Normally, he wouldn't tolerate such feistiness from a female but it was something about her that demanded his undivided attention. That one force he knew God was behind, pushing him into Shia’s life just as much as she was being pushed into his. Will these two become each other’s kryptonite and find themselves more damaged than before, or in the midst of a love so beautiful that neither of them ever imagined being apart of?

About the author
Blu Zaas
2 books3 followersBlu was born in Washington, DC. She began writing poetry at a young age before finding more interest in writing short stories. Creating her own reality by constructing characters and a storyline was her sweet escape. Blu's writing aims to touch the lives of many, specifically the young adult community. Blu had spent years doubting her talent and living in fear of what people would think about her writing but accepted the fact everyone won't like what you produce which became that "push" she needed.
Finally overcoming her fears, she has taken the first step in making her dream a reality by self-publishing her first novel "Inside Strong." Knowing that she wanted to make a name for herself, it led to the establishment of her publishing company, Her Blutiful Mind. After gaining ample success by self-publishing her works first, her plan is to begin publishing young women's works that share the same love for writing.
Hence the name, Her Blutiful Mind. A company giving women a chance at living out their dreams as well.

Unlike any book I've ever read, He's Always Been Here took me on a journey into the life of an addict. The life of a person who needed love and support. The life of a person who knew no other way to travers a cruel world without being harsh, cruel and heavily sedated on something that destroyed instead of helped, assisted, protected.
The first thing I thought of, once I saw the connection between the main characters, I thought: Isn't this against ALL the rules of recovery? Then I wondered if people really spoke this way- before remembering some of my own family members. He's Always Been Here is a slightly difficult book to read. No, I do not own virgin ears, but the way I read, I hear and see it all. These people are CRAZY! I did my best to relate, understand, sympathize- even empathize. They made it hard, but that's what characters do. It may have taken me a while to get through the novel, but I did and I appreciated it all.
Check out He's Always Been Here. Oh- I can tell you, the ending is rather nice. Still a lot of cursing and stuff, but I loved it. I'm off to the next read- cheers! (Full review posts to my website www.areneehunt.com on Nov. 13, 2018)

I have struggled with this book and I am sorry to say I had to give up. I very much had difficulty with the language used in this book, I think it was a culture issue. I received an ARC copy for my honest and voluntary review.
