When George comes to her rescue time after time she starts to wonder if maybe he doesn't feel something more for her than hate.

**This was a good book***

It was a very disappointing feeling when I realize that George and Laurie got together 😂😂 I was so for Meghan because I assume she wanted George!!!! Maybe, she still does, who knows.

•*** Spoilers; throughout this review••***

Okay, this is so weird! Amazon has this book set as “Second Chance” whereas on Goodreads it set as “High School Dropout”... & both have different cover photos which are weird too.

With that being said..... I was glad George was there to pick up Laurie because that person was waiting for her to leave that shelter... especially when it was waiting for Laurie to walk past. Then also be at her house too, 9 out of 10 it could be that art teacher she has that weird feeling about. I understand those feelings because I get different vibes from people you can’t trust...

Also, it sucks what everyone is doing, or how they are treating Laurie at school! Like they don’t know what she was going to in the hands of her uncle I was made at her in book 1 with Matt, Kristen (ex, George) because they both set Kristen up to die... but if it wasn’t for Laurie in both scenarios (her being set up) and (Laurie saving her (Kristen) .... Kristen wouldn’t have been in that situation, to begin with, but in the end, Laurie went to save her along with Matt.... but ONLY Kristen and Matt sees what she did, which sucks but I think she’ll come out stronger in the end. You’ll know who your friends are once something goes bad for you.....

As I am getting further into this book; there’s so much that both George and Laurie relate to each other. When they were in that cabin; it sucks how his brother died. I feel sorry for George because you can tell he was going through so much! When his brother committed suicide over what his dad kept demanding of him... this happens in real life with parents demanding kids to get perfect grades... you can’t do that to kids it’s can be hard on them... I will never demand my kid to get perfect grades. It’s best to tell them to do their best (you can only do the best that you can)!!!

I was glad in this story I have gotten to understand George more and why he did the things that he did... I don’t think he was able to talk to others and he did with Laurie... they both need each other in this scenario.

In the end, I am glad Rose realize Jack wasn’t the one for her and Jack got what he deserved when he did that to Laurie. Knowing darn well she didn’t want him. Glad that George, came to her rescue to have her back. If it wasn’t for Kristen, I don’t think no one would be friends with her. But now she has Kristen, Rose, Michelle, Jules, George, and Matt. That’s all she needs. I currently don’t even like Meghan, but I still want to know what her issue was.

I am glad that they well Sebastian gotten adopted and found the money; you know one thing about a dog they are very good at finding things. If Laurie adopted Sebastian, I don’t think they would’ve found that money and those evil men would’ve still been after them. Glad in the end everything turns out good for both her and George and Sebastian didn’t die...

Officially my favourite book of the series!

Laurie at heart is a sweet kid who has had to live a really hard life: losing her parents at a young age and having to live with a dodgy uncle who forced her to get involved in all sorts of shady and dangerous schemes. And then after getting her involved in the biggest, most dangerous scheme of all (See Book One); he has the nerve to also go and die on her which leaves her quite effectively in what looks like a pot and fire situation.

The smartest thing Laurie has ever done is to go back to what inadvertently became home. Life on the run was just too much for a kid who is honestly just looking for peace. So even though Forest Ridge High has big ghosts and festering resentments lying in wait for her, she decides to go back. Now I would like to point out that her initial motivator was thinking about Matt’s dad being a lawyer and wanting to speak to him to see if he could help.

I tried to rise above wanting to take this opportunity to point out to Matt and Kristen that his dad’s a lawyer (and apparently his dad is the useful kind of lawyer – not like contracts and Real Estate or whatever) but I clearly don’t rise to such occasions.

Laurie was one of those unknown quantities in the first book. She came across as a very cold and mean girl with those looks she was throwing at Kristen but then she tried to be helpful with Kristen in terms of information but I will admit that I’m not sure if the motivation was to do the right thing or her love of George.

Honestly, when you’ve lived that life, against your will, with nowhere else to go for so long, the emotional and personality conflict are quite understandable. I found myself rooting for her from the first chapter because it’s the first time we really got to see her and consider her. And I was so angry that her uncle was apparently one life’s earthquakes because the aftershocks that this girl had to go through were just so unfair.

Again, in a prime example of me not rising, I would like to point out that Laurie knows how to call the police!
And then in an effort to redeem myself, I will also acknowledge that Kristen shows Laurie quite a bit of pleasantly surprising, unexpected support in spite of other people’s opinions.

You know who else knows how to call the police? Like the number is actually stored on his phone? It’s George! George... How do I feel about George?

Look I am never going to be a George fan. I’m just not. It’s not because I don’t have a heart for people who have justifiable issues or residual problems that are a hangover from a crappy time growing up. It’s because George, after everything, hasn’t grown much – no introspection, no development because after the drugs and that whole dangerous mess, he is still drinking and not thinking. I see fleeting moments of redeeming qualities but for a lot of the first part of the book, it looks like the jerkiness (I so desperately want to use another word) is an inherent trait.
I can appreciate that he is nice to dogs and so the benefit of the doubt that I gave him was initially really a result of the fact that dogs liked him. I trust dogs. Also he knows how to call the police (:-P)

The second book in this series broke away from the happenings of the first book and I feel like this one links us right back to it and completes the circle of those events. Again, the blurb should not be taken word for word. Laurie overcoming her fear of dogs is not the key to George’s heart or her life changing. Although it is possible that adopting a dog could make George happy.

Yes, there is the romance aspect but I feel that the underlying theme is very much more about redemption and the righting of wrongs. It’s also about acknowledging the fact that people do bad things for different reasons and sometimes, as is Laurie’s case, the bad guys aren’t always bad people and are also sometimes victims themselves.

Laurie has an inner strength that comes from years of dealing with the life she lived. I am pleased that there were so many people there for her in this book. My most fervent hope for her is that George becomes as good for her as she is for him and that she’ll be assured enough to never again have to wring her hands with worry just in case George is upset. She deserves so many good things.

I had a hard time finding this book on here (Goodreads) to review as it seems to have changed titles. The book I read has a different cover and title. It was called “Second Chances”...
This is the third book in the series. The books should be read in order to fully understand the interlinking of the characters. I really enjoyed the series, which is clean, takes place in a high school, and has a bit of suspense as well as romance. Although it’s meant for teens, I really enjoyed all of the books. I hope the author continues writing more books in the series. It would be nice to read Rose’s story next. This one had a surprising number of errors in it. I’m not sure if the newer version jas been edited more thoroughly or not but it was distracting while reading. However, the storyline was very good and I still rate it five stars.
This was Laurie and George’s story- the conclusion to what happened after the football game calamity and when Laurie comes back after running away and being on the streets for a while.

Laurie and George! What an amazing series!

Highly addictive, a real page turner and even a mystery! This book will leave you wantinf more books from all our High school friends.

I wanted to hate Laurie in book 2. But she has become so likeable. Not to mention, she's very comical. The author creates this world of teenage angst and drama you can relate to. I truly enjoyed seeing Laurie stay so strong and calm. Let me just say. Mr. Bradley, you were awesome!!

George redeemed himself and I adore him. Especially at the shelter with the loveable Sebastian and Laurie. The rest of the gang makes appearances. But what touched my heart was Sebastian. He got his forever home!!! The ending was just perfect!

This is a highly addictive series. I am exhausted from reading in one sitting but its worth it!

I received a free copy for an honest review. Wow, I didn't see that coming. Laurie and George. My heart goes out to Laurie though. She tried to do the best she could with a terrible situation, albeit she still made some pretty terrible choices. More dogs! Yay!

I wish the author wrote another book because I was really sad to find out that this addicting series, is only 3 books long. This book was the best and I highly recommend this to anybody.

Great read

Good follow up after her first book. Wasn’t too over the top. Both main and secondary characters were well developed.

This was a fun book to write. I loved sharing the "bad guys'" stories from Falling for the New Guy. And any time I can add a sweet pup to a story, I'd say it's a win!
