To win this race, he’ll have to do more than hug the corners…

More than six months after the Heat wiped out most of humanity, Bailey O’Keefe keeps her bug-out bag packed and her “salvaged” Porsche 911 ready to outrun the djinn reavers. She figures eventually she’ll wind up dead. Until then? Her car’s dust cloud is a giant middle finger to Earth’s new overlords.

Until one day a red Ferrari appears in her rearview mirror, driven by the one djinn who refuses to give up and look for easier prey.

Nasim al-Jibril isn’t out for anyone’s blood. The thrill of the chase has drawn him from his too-quiet Napa Valley vineyards to L.A.’s empty concrete canyons. But it’s not victory flooding his veins when Bailey rolls her Porsche while trying to shake off his pursuit — it’s guilt for causing her harm.

Alone in Nasim’s L.A. loft, Bailey’s bones heal, caution gives way to growing attraction…and Nasim realizes she’s the choice of his heart. But this wild, freedom-loving woman deserves one last chance to race for her independence — best two out of three.

A native of Southern California, Christine Pope has been writing stories ever since she commandeered her family’s Smith-Corona typewriter back in the sixth grade. Many reams of dead trees later, she’s happy to announce that her debut novel, Fringe Benefits, was published by Pink Petal Books on April 8, 2010. Her short fiction has appeared in Astonishing Adventures, Luna Station Quarterly, and the new journal of dark fiction, Dark Valentine. Her paranormal novella, Playing With Fire, was released on August 5, 2010.

While Fringe Benefits is a straight contemporary romance, she writes in a variety of genres, including paranormal romance, fantasy, horror, science fiction, and historical romance. She blames this on being easily distracted by bright, shiny objects, which could also account for the size of her shoe collection.

After spending many years in the magazine publishing industry, she now works as a freelance editor in addition to writing fiction. She lives with her husband and an explosively fluffy Pomeranian mix. Her house is pink, but don’t hold that against her.

This new set of stories set within the original timescale of the Djinn series continues to go from strength to strength.

Bailey is a former foster kid who may look like a Barbie doll but is all things automotive genius! Oh, she also drives like someone from fast and Furious! She has been surviving on downtown LA for the last 6 months, her every day boredom broken by the succession of Djinn who try to hunt her. But she worked out that they can't go much faster than 40mph and that gives her the edge. That is until anew Djinn hears about the human and decides to test his mettle against her.

Nasim al-Jibril has settled into his new existence in the lands he was provided with. But forever is a long time and he needs to keep his mind working. So he has learned to care for his new vineyard and when he learns of a female human who goads his fellow Djinn but always gets away, he feels up to the challenge of facing her. And he is the first to determine that to beat her he must play her at her own game...driving! When he finally comes up against her and she ends up hurt, he takes her to his loft and cares for her. Then does something very undjinn-like. He gives her the chance to gain her freedom and safe passage to a human enclave, she just has to beat him best 2 out of 3. The dice are loaded in Bailey's favour, surely?

This was a great slow burn of a romance. Bailey sees beyond Nasim's Djinn exterior and sees the man beneath. Nasim also sees in Bailey a worthy adversary as well as a chance at a fulfilled eternity. There is a little wrinkle in his plans though, the Elders. I would recommend reading the series in order as although they do not crossover as such, it does make more sense to read the narrative as it unfolds from book to book.

Ladies and gentlemen start your engines on this book. Driven by Christine Pope is hands down one of my favorite books of 2018, it’s got a little bit of everything action, romance, adventure, and racing. Did I mention racing? As a female who enjoys auto sports and cars, this was written very well. Pope captured the language used in racing sports or anyone who is a car fanatic will tell you. It felt as if you were in the drivers seat and handling the car.

This is third book in the Djinn Dominion series, like the other two books in this series it’s a standalone novel. There is mention of background characters from the first book but it’s not necessary to have read it to start with this one. Of the three books in this series, this one is my favorite. It’s a race from start to finish, with Bailey and Nasim as they navigate the roads of Los Angeles and their relationship. The build up this relationship has it own twists, turns, and bumps in the road. (Sorry for the car analogies, can you tell that I’m a race fan?) We’ve got Bailey on the run and jut trying to survive in this post apocalyptic world. Nasim, a djinn, who is curious about the rumors of the woman who drives the sky colored Porsche. Their journey starts with Bailey trying to win her freedom from Nasim, but drives down a path that leads us to a beautiful relationship with neither of them wanting to part from the other.

And the race is to win, in Christine Pope’s “Driven”, the Djinn Dominion Book 3!!! It is months since the Heat that wiped out most of humanity, and Bailey O’Keefe is keeping herself as safe as she can from the Djinn reavers pursuing her. Then there’s the one Djinn that is relentless in his chase. Nasim al-Jibril decided that the only way to catch this human is by competing with the same strategy as she. Nasim al-Jibril is determined to be successful in catching this spunky human who drives her vehicle with tremendous proficiency. But, this woman does deserve a chance to race for her freedom. This is a tale of perseverance and continuation of life for the hunted human female. Yet the portrayal of how love developed between the pair, as well as the efforts the Djinn did to show his love is only a Christine Pope type of tale. Christine is a master story teller and takes us into her characters so you can experience the whole scope of emotions and life situations. This is a phenomenal story and I recommend it highly. However, you must also read the entire series in order to understand the storyline.

I've read the first two books in this series, and I love how each is self contained within the larger universe. Driven is no different, and that's what makes this book an enjoyable read; there's no "pattern" that each book's heroine goes on, not that Bailey would follow a path anyway. I really enjoyed reading the about the races. Christine Pope does a wonderful job of building the scenes, so even though I've never been to California, I could still get an image of where I was reading about. Finishing this series made me a little sad but it's also made me want to pick up the Djinn Wars series. I received an advanced copy, but I've volunteered to review.

The third book in the Djinn Dominion series is also excellent and worthy of a five star. I particularly liked the heroine and hero in this book. Bailey’s character is well developed and shows a fiery person who can stand up against even the Djinn’s elders! I loved the idea of using driving and racing as a background for the story, it is a different approach. As with the other two books in the series, I highly recommend it.

Brilliant Series

Driven (The Djinn Wars Book 11) by Christine Pope. Bailey has survived 6 months after the Heat by driving very fast so no Djinn could catch her and having multiple escape places to hide but this last Djinn had been following her for a week much longer than any other. Nasim wanted to catch the human but when Bailey crashed he was sorry. He realised she was hurt and took her back to his flat to help her heal. One thing led to another….

It was interesting how alot of the rogue dijin gave up easily but yet this 1 sexy man managed 2 do it all and capture her heart while loosing his own heart 2. I was surprised that there wasn't another djin willing 2 fighting him or her but it would be funny 2 c her reaction 2 that since she has no filter when talking 2 the elder. Lol can't wait 4 more 2 come.

Intriguing

Bailey O’Keefe has been on the run for 7 months now after the “Heat”. She’s got the djinn frustrated because they can’t catch her.
Nasim al-Nibril hears the stories and comes to L.A. to find her himself.
What happens next is fast cars attraction that can’t be denied.

The latest instalment of the Djinn world sees another couple meeting up, this time in a car crash.
While the series benefited from leaving beautiful, but rural New Mexico, there are signs that it is getting repetitive.

Loved all the Djinn war book, they all ended happen, just to think that the world as we know it will end someday could be happy, and happier with Our Lord Jesus Christ leading us on.

Djinn Wars #11

Not as good as previous books but still ok. A little slow at times. Recommend for light reading. Not disappointed.
