Loved this book

I am so sad that the author seems to have dropped this story after just one book. The story is about three sisters, Witches, who are separated after their mother is murdered. The eldest returns determined to prove her mother was murdered. The story makes you sad and angry when you realize how a whole town destroyed this family by doing nothing. The romance is slow burning and very hot.

The first 2/3 of this book were intriguing. The story moved quickly, flowed nicely and seemed to be the beginning of a great story. But, the ending was ... not a let down exactly, but just missing something. I would love to read the add'l sisters' stories, but seems no book 2 has been written. Although years have passed since this one came out, I'm hoping Wilder will eventually return to the story of the Angelov sisters.

The story made me think of the movie "Practical Magic", only in that the town of Salem whispered that the family were witches and treated them poorly. And there's the "Angelov" name which, of course, had me thinking of Nicole Kidman's hottie by the same name. Other than that, no similarities really.

Synnamon's the oldest of four daughters. At age 14, her mother is killed and the town's police dept separates all the girls for reasons unknown. Many years later Syn returns to Salem to their family home in search of answers and her sisters.

Winter's Daughter was good. I liked Synammon & Matt and thought they made a pretty good couple. The story was well-written, but I felt that the beginning of the book was better than the end. It started to drag and once it was revealed who killed Synammon's mother, I wasn't surprised and I almost didn't care. It took too long to wrap up, I guess. As this is the first of what I am assuming is a four book series (there are 4 sisters and they need to find their way back to each other), there are some unresolved issues. My interest was held and I look forward to reading the next one whenever it comes out. 3.5 stars
