Christy Huntley is finally beginning to love her life. She is independent, runs her own business and has her own little circle of friends and family who support her in every way. No, there is absolutely no reason to look back any more. She has boxed, locked and stuffed her painful memories where it belongs- in the past. Or at least, she thought she had.
So what will she do when her past breaks out and marches straight back into her life, demanding for his rights in her life? What will she do when Ashton Pryor is dead set on claiming her back as his bride?

Well there is certainly plenty of affairs and betrayals but there is absolutely NO atonement whatsoever. Perhaps a definition of atonement is in order, from the online dictionary
atonement - 1. satisfaction or reparation for a wrong or injury; amends.
Nope, atonement did not happen here rather the opposite in fact.
BTW - anyone in any state can file for divorce for spousal abandonment/desertion after two years and in most states after one.
The POS masquerading as a hero in the story threw the teenage h out, making her homeless and then proceed to fornicate with every piece he could get his hands on. Eleven years on he decides he needs a divorce to marry his latest squeeze, (who knows he is married), and so goes looking for the heroine to rub his success and women into her face when his lawyer would have known that he could file at any time without the heroine even being consulted.
Due to the male character's actions this should have led to the heroine filing for constructive abandonment with no child visitation and forced support, but because no research or inspiration was involved in this story we have instead a man who can't be faithful and won't tell his fiancee that he is sleeping with his wife and he actually wins out over a man who is decent, loving and worth about 20 million of the so called hero.
Yep, that is my idear of romance and an HEA -- NOT --actually that is my idear of satirical romantic farce which this story fully resembles and with a few more biting cheesy lines could have been brilliant.
So be warned this h is sloppy seconds all the way and in my estimation, there is no true HEA and why are people still writing this type of mushroom fertilizer and expecting readers to eat it?
Read it if you must but don't say you weren't warned.

Surprised. The plot and storytelling are raw and contrived at times but also strong and fresh at other places. So, although the book annoys, I cannot totally dump it. Yes, the mc/H makes some poor choices but then that's a different rant.
Teenage H marries naive and emotionally deprived h and sleeps with her, only to kick her out of his life. His sister is married to her brother and his narcissistic sister always blames teenage h for all her marital issues as she hates that her husband loves his sister ... Heartbroken h runs away and finally ends up with a lovely couple. She works for them and is eventually regarded as their child. She had H's baby whom she keeps secret ... H is worried and guilty, looks for her but easily moves on. He is engaged to supermodel OW and needs to get a divorce ... h turns up looking lovely and he gets curious ... he meddles around a bit and finds he has a son h is very guilty about keeping her boy a secret although she has her reasons, namely that H had told her to go away and stay away ... she also doesn't feel he would be interested in her son H plays on her guilt and stays in her house / inn to spend time with his son ... decides to seduce h ... she resists but eventually sleeps with him ... His fiancee comes back and he cannot find a way to let fiancee know he changed his mind about marriage to her ... they go back but h tells him to decide once and for all what he wants He breaks off with fiancee and comes back but she has had an accident ... he stays with son, looks after her and the inn ... she recovers and they are together ... I felt so sorry for this h ... she really was a deprived child and H takes advantage of her vulnerability ... he is guilty but he is also a nematode ... he is not that strong a character but he tries ... she also suffers from TBS ... I hated that he was able to move on and get engaged after inflicting such damage on her .... But its an engrossing read so ... 3 stars ...
This one was quite good... Like the title says, Affairs & Atonement. The first 10% or so is a like a prologue showing us how Ashton seduced Christy and tricked her into marrying him. He was 18 years and she was 17 almost 18. Ashton's sister Linda was married to Christy's brother Marshall and there was some bad blood between both families and since he knew Christy's feelings for him, he decided to use her to avenge his sister. That was cruel, their wedding night was just horrible and I hated him on the spot.
11 years later Ashton is miserable and trying to find Christy so he can divorce and marry his girlfriend Naomi. But after Christy signs the papers, he doesn't want to let her go and finally realizes what a jerk he had been and wants to win her back. And here start the ATONEMENT part lol! A good portion of the book was Ashton trying to atone for his awful treatment of Christy. I loved that she didn't make it easy for him and simply fell back into his arms. Even when they got closed, the next day she will be back to being cold and I really liked it :) Both Ashton and Christy have other people in their life so here come the AFFAIRS now :P
It was angsty, with good tension, a great groveling story and we didn't have to wait until the last page for them to reunite. It happened close to the end but then the author added some drama with the other woman (of course) to force Ashton's hand... This is where I was frustrated because Ashton was indecisive between both women. You love Christy and everyone can see it, so why stalling? I really hated him for that.
Still a wonderful story! It reminded me of Forever Again with a separated/divorced couple, woman has a B&B and man has a fiancée and stalling the breakup to be with his true love. I liked this one better because Ashton spent the full book atoning for his sins and knew he messed. The jerk in Forever Again had the nerve to blame his ex -_-
3,5 to 4 stars. First of all, if you love romance and well written books, this could be something you might like. I enjoyed the author’s quite proper writing as it gave a “Victorian” feeling to a contemporary story. But this is not your smooth and peaceful story. I was fuming most of the time! Let me explain… When the story begins, Christy will soon turn eighteen. She lives with her older brother as her parents divorced and none want her. I must say her brother’s wife is quite an horrid person. She is bitter, bickers all the time and berates Christy unfairly. Nothing depicts Christy’s predicament and opinion of herself better than: She was used to be last in everyone’s priority. My heart really broke for Christy. I was also revolted. Christy’s sister in law family is a bunch of cold, twisted and snobbish people! As for Ashton, I know he is “the other hero” in this story but I wanted to slap and shake some sense in him more than once! I’m conscious it takes courage to make amend and his return comes from good intentions. But you know what’s said about good intentions: Hell is paved with them. When Ashton comes back eleven years later, he regrets his wrongdoing. And yes, without giving any spoiler away, he assumes admirably some of what he did. I concede he has some redeeming qualities. But on the other hand, when it comes to Christy, let me put it bluntly, he has to grow some balls! He pounces on her but when he should assume his feelings and take some formal measures to reassure her, he is nowhere to be found. I understand he does not want to hurt others but in doing so Christy is the one to get hurt time and again. And it backfires on Ashton. I would say “serves him well” if I was not so fond of Christy and I did not want to see her hurt anymore.
So, I had many emotions reading this story, mainly anger and frustration. But even if I did not like the Pryors, Ashton included, and the story was sometimes predictable it was far from boring and I still enjoyed my reading. I only needed to let off some steam once finished :).
Click that Buy button now! Affairs & Atonement is an in-depth novel of a man’s struggle to leave his life for the woman he loves. It is gut wrenching and emotional. Be warned that you will be spent by the end of the book. The hero, Ashton is no saint. He admits to that. He has wronged Christy, the heroine while she was young. But he realizes that he’s made a mistake. Eleven years later, when he finds her, he does all he can to get her to forgive him. The journey that follows is heart-wrenching and emotional. The author does not hold back on the emotional turmoil in this man’s heart. I personally liked that he is a man who makes a mistake and admits to it. More than that, he works hard to make up for it. What makes it exceptional is that it is believable. The pace and the flow is great and the dialogues are natural. A definitely must-read for anyone who loves a beautifully written love story.
Like the plot of this story just didn't think that the way it played out was so great. Ashton married Christy when she turned eighteen. To get back at the way her brother treated his older sister. The after taken her virginity and kicks her out. Fast forward eleven years he is now engaged to a model and needs a divorce. So now he looks for her... When he finds her he finds out they have a son. Now he wants revenge again. What gives? Can Christy ever get her own HEA ending? Wasn't happy how this ended...He deserved some Karma to bite him. Larissa Cartharn should have given this story a little more thought.
OMG. He fucks her over on her wedding day. An innocent girl for revenge for some wierd arse perceived wrong that her brother did and then when he tracks her down 11 years later so he can get a divorce to re marry, discovers he has a son and has the gaul to get pissed of at her and she apologises? OMG! he deserved nothing from her. His behavior was so appalling and she would have had no reason to tell him about his child and then she is begging him to forgive.... fuck off
I picked up Atonement because it came highly recommended from a few people. It wasn't quite what I expected, but I was pleasantly surprised. The cover threw me off a little bit and at first I was confused of the time of this novel (don't judge me, you do it too) but, once I realized the time, the book picked up quickly. Honestly, the time zoom was drastic but the timing was an integral part of the story. The main female character was a strong woman and brought herself up from nothing. The male lead was a piece of work and I was waiting to see him atone for his misgivings. Overall, the story moved fairly quickly and flowed well. The editing got a little messy in the end, but it didn't distract too often. I recommend this for a heartfelt quick read.
Yuck! Not a fun time. The hero is trash. Just a dumpster fire of trash. He hurts innocent people simply cause he believes that’s the only way another man would learn a lesson. There is too much going on in this story. Mean sister, other woman, other man, secret son, nice brother, problem business. It’s just too much! The hero is a cheater, a user, is mean and rude. The heroine after running away just disappears and just limps around the story. Skip. There coulda been a good story in here but this is a freaking mess.
¿Novela con drama? Definitivamente.
This really wasn't good. It had a decent premise, but was pretty poorly executed. The storyline was so superficial and nothing went into enough detail. Some grammatical errors thrown in and you get a 1 star rating...
No puedo creer que después de todo Christy lo perdonó. Aston me cae bien, pero puso a Naomi como prioridad y dejo de lado lo mal que se sentía Christy.

Honestly speaking have you ever read a book that you hated in the beginning only to love the end? Well if you haven't let me introduce you to this wonderful emotional roller coaster Christy is a woman who has had a couple of bad go rounds. Ashton is the brother of her sister-in-law (he is also the hot guy she is crushing on) Christy's family has had some issues her parents are no longer together she isn't 18 yet o yeah and neither one of her parents wants to take responsibility over her at this moment in there lives. Her brother steps in and tells her she can live with him and his wife. The wife hates her and treats her like crap, Ashton thinks that Christy's brother takes care of Christy way better than he does his own wife(which isn't true) Ashton comes up with a plan and gets Christy to marry him. This is where you will start to see red when you read the story I won't give it away but I will say OMG I was screaming mad at Ashton( HOT or NOT he was such a jerk) I loved this story because it was so good and made me very emotional in the beginning. I did however feel like the ending was a little rushed but it was over all a great story
When I first read the blurb on this book, it totally piqued my interest. It seemed a different theme. And then I started reading it. And Wow! My heart went out to Christy from the beginning to the end. Never wavered in my opinion of her. She was strong to stick up for herself and yet showed her weakness against her feelings for Asher. I loved her relationship with Margaret and Marshall.
Then there is Asher. It has been a long time since I have read a character that seriously angers me throughout a story. But time and again he would seriously cause my temper to flare. For me that is a sign of a good writer, to inspire such strong emotions for their character. Although I did like him, he did get under my skin. I wanted him to feel more responsible, more apologetic and be more sincere with his emotions and actions.
I enjoyed the push and pull of the story and how it ended. My only wish is that I wanted a bit more of the end. It was a great end but I was greedily wanting a little more. ;D
Whenever I see a new book out by this author, I always get it, because her stories are always so detailed and she’s a whiz with dialogue. Affairs and Atonements is a story packed with emotion. It’s a roller coaster ride as the hero and heroine, Ashton and Christy, have an intense relationship. The story deals with family pressures, stubbornness, and expectations in such a realistic way it was easy to picture the scenes. Ashton is well drawn by the author and I didn’t know whether to like him, kick his ass, or feel sorry for him and by the end of the book I’d done all of those. This is an extraordinary love story, high on emotional moments. The tension the author creates between the characters keeps you turning the pages to find out what happens next. A great read.
I had very strong emotions about the characters. Luckily, Ashton developed into less of an a*&hole and Christy matured into a tough cookie who could handle everything except her feelings for Ashton. It reads like historical fiction with the formal, proper dialogue but is really a contemporary read. I liked the relationship with Ashton and JR and the scenes with Ashton and Christy were full of the passion they were unable to fight. The ending looked predictable but the author threw in a twist that made me whip through the last pages to find out what happened.
Finished and I thought it's was a Victorian time but it's not. Def love the book tho. Love the heroine Christy, she married at the age of eighteen to secret crush Ashton only to get that crushed by her husband. Naive girl who grown into a strong woman with a 10 yr old son.
Ashton the hero who "search for his wife" for 11 years finally fall head over heels in love with Christy even tho he is still engaged to Niaomi.
I received it in exchange of an honest review! I loved this book!!! Completely addictive you won't be able to put it down!!!!! Well written with a little historical style but in a modern and contemporary settings, with characters that you will hate, love or both, you won't be able to remain neutral!!! Revenge, family feud, love and betrayal are on the menu but with a happy ending, this book is a total pleasure!!! I didn't want it to end! I simply loved it!!!
*~* I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review *~*
This is a 3.5 - 4 stars for me.
I really liked the story as a whole. When reading the book you know it takes place in current time, however with the vocabulary and some of the mannerisms, sometimes you feel as though you are in a historical romance. Other then that I really enjoyed the book. I also really liked it because I live were Christy lives!!!
Clarissa has another hit on her hands! I saw a review that said this needs to be made into a movie....and I must agree! You will go for a roller coaster ride on your emotions when you read this so have your tissues at the ready. WTG is all I can tell the author, no wonder she was so proud of it.
