The Avenue #3

For Today

Rate this book
Seventeen Years Ago. The first time Aaron Andrews saw Simon Foster smile, he knew he was in trouble. He’d never seen anything—or anyone—like the man who’d stolen his favorite seat in his favorite coffee shop.

Six Weeks Ago. The late-night phone call that changed their lives forever was short. Four little words was all it took to set them on a different path—one that included new toys (not that kind), a dose of homophobia (been there), and an appreciation for spandex (though they always appreciated it . . .)

Today. That’s what Aaron and Simon are focused on as they try to plan the best birthday in the history of ever, all for the little boy who has quickly become their world. Even if that means dealing with too-tight costumes, a cape that won’t behave, a meddlesome family . . .

. . . and a past that won’t stay there.

B. Cranford is a proud Australian living in the USA, a lover of books, breadsticks and bed, and the mother of two children who are far too similar to their father for her liking. A lifelong reader, she dove into the romance genre on the recommendation of her best friend and hasn’t looked back since. Her debut novel, The Brightest Star, a second chance romance with (she hopes) heart and humor was released on July 13, 2017, which just so happened to be her birthday. Because if you release a book on your birthday, you get twice as much cake, and that can only be a good thing.

For Today is book three in The Avenue series by B. Cranford. This is the final book in the series and is Aaron and Simon’s story. It can easily be read as a stand alone. But, each book in this series is about a different sibling in the Andrews family and you would miss so much by not reading the previous books.

for today b. cranford - Google Search

Aaron is the oldest of the three Andrews siblings. This book takes us back seventeen years to the day he first saw Simon Foster in the coffee shop. It was love at first sight. Their eyes met and he couldn’t look away. He still hasn’t. Their lives would be filled with so much joy, but also heart ache, and hardship. To be honest, I think the love these two share is bigger than any couple I’ve ever read about, no matter the gender. The way they support each other, the gentle affection they share as well as the banter and the sexy times. And I assure you that there are plenty of sexy times.

two men cuddling

Simon has become just as much an important part of the Andrews clan as if he was born into the family. He’s kind of become the patriarch. Always the one to provide advice, the reasonable voice. I also want to mention again, as I did in the previous two reviews for the previous books, the thing that I love the most about this series is the close relationship these three siblings share. Their group texting is hilarious. No matter what is going on with any of them, though, they are there for each other. As each sibling finds love, as the families grow, so does their love.

superman

Simon and Aaron’s life takes an unexpected turn when their family grows by one little boy. But again, love paves the way. They made the transition easy just by being the amazing men that they were. Aaron has a very unexpected tie to this little boy. A bond, an understanding that he didn’t see coming.

What an amazing book this was. It was fun and sexy and sweet and everything I hoped it would be. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the Andrews siblings. I really hope you’ll check this series out. And if you do, I hope that you’ll love this family just as much as I have.

I never planned on writing Aaron and Simon's story—I wrote them already married because I wanted to show that happily married secondary characters can stay happy, LOL. And yet, here we are...

For Today starts at the beginning—the day Simon steals Aaron seat... and his heart. From there, well, life can be great and life can be messy, but as long as they have each other, life can still be full of love, right?

I’ve been longing for this book since I read About Time, I immediately wanted to know more about Simon, the wise one. Seemingly, the only adult in the Andrews family. The way he was always there for Austin and Ashton, Aaron’s younger siblings, as they navigated life and love. I needed his story! How did the smooth and handsome Simon Foster wind up with the King of Innuendos, Aaron Andrews?
It all began with a blue chair. And the rest, as they say, is history. Love at first sight. Their story is one of the most emotional stories I’ve ever read, and I loved every minute of it.

“You’re my best friend, Si. And you’ve been the most important person in my life for so long, I can’t remember what it was like before.” (SIGH)

When I read the first two books in The Avenue Series, I Googled and searched for Aaron and Simon’s story. Was it a short story or part of an anthology I missed? It had to be somewhere since I had such a clear, developed sense of this couple who really are the grown-ups of the Andrews family. It didn’t exist. When B. Cranford announced that she would write their story, I was thrilled to see how Si and Eagle became the power couple that they are in About Time and Because Forever.

For Today begins as many great love stories do, with theft. Specifically, the theft of student Aaron’s favorite coffee house study chair by the crazy handsome model Simon. Hilarity, awkwardness, and sweet conversation packed with innuendo ensues, leaving us with a clear look at what these two are about. We get to see them date in a realistic sense—just two young people getting to know one another. There is no deceit, no immaturity. It’s just connection with another person like we all hope for. No lies, readers, this book is hot.

As Aaron’s feelings for Simon grow, he decides he finally needs to be honest with his family. Watching the couple go through Aaron’s family’s cruel rejection of him for coming out tore my heart out. However, his siblings and friends help create a new form of family, and how he and Simon are both each other’s rocks through life’s ups and downs is a true joy to read. The pain is tangible in the book, and it echoes that of so many whose families place dogma over love. What could have been preachy or over-the-top is nuanced and heartbreaking, but it doesn’t overshadow the joy Aaron’s and Simon’s experience through their many years together. Because, honestly, that’s how life goes. Their life and love is supported by the amazing cast of characters from the aforementioned books, and I appreciated how the stories weave through their decades-long relationship. It gives great weight to the scenes in the previous books with both characters witnessing the ups and downs of their family’s relationships and growing up.

Without giving anything else away, this book brought me to tears, made me laugh out loud so hard I almost fell off the treadmill, had me cringing from the pain of stepping on a Lego, and made me love this family and their crazy group texts even more than I thought possible.

My favorite aspect of B. Cranford’s writing is she gets people. She writes real people with normal jobs, normal problems, and she rises above tropey nonsense to create emotion and connection. She writes funny, dirty, sweet, and real stories of people you’d want to know in real life. Even if you don’t think M/M isn’t your thing, I’d suggest giving it a go. This book is easily my favorite of the many I already love by this author.

What a glorious story of love, family, heartbreak, strength, learning to rely on one another, and so much sexy time it’s crazy. I cannot recommend For Today enough!

Sometimes when reading a story you think "I hope so and so gets a book". Well if you've read any of the Avenue (and if you haven't you need to get on that) you will know that Aaron, the oldest brother is one of those characters.... and with him comes Simon! This is a great love story that gives us the past, present and future of Si and Eagle. Fall in love right along with them and see how they got to be in the beautiful place they are now.

I'm not a huge reader of M/M but a love story is a love story and this one tugged on my heartstrings. There was more than one obstacle for our couple to tackle but they did it together and they did it well. They could teach us all a lot about relationships. ....and that picture OMG, heart smashed!

Loved it!

We met and fell in love with Simon and Aaron in the previous books in the series where they were solid and confident in their relationship, here we get to see their beginnings and it is so very lovely and sweet to see.

We begin with a look at their initial meeting, and all their insecurities as they develop a beautifully strong bond. There is so much love in this story, the support they give to each other is heart warming and so very cute to watch. The group messages and the inappropriate innuendo had me chuckling throughout, and seeing Finn enter their dynamic only added to the beauty of their relationship.

This book was exactly what I needed, a bit of light and fun in amongst the emotional stuff. A joy to read!

Ever since B. Cranford started The Avenue series, I’ve been waiting to hear Aaron and Simon’s story. Their story starts at the beginning and is full of love, loss, family and friendship. I laughed, I cried and I enjoyed every moment of this book. For Today was full of emotion and shows that love knows no race, no gender. Love is love. Kudos to B. Cranford for an absolutely brilliant book.

ALL THE FEELS!! I was already a bit in love with Simon and Aaron after reading the previous books in this series. It was wonderful to get to see how they met and fell in love and how they dealt with the obstacles that were put in their way.

“Simon spoke again, “How did you know I needed you?” his head turning on the pillow beneath him, his brown eyes begging for an answer.
Which Aaron gave, as simply as he could. “Because I needed you, too.”

The story is at times sweet, swoony, fun and even heartbreaking. (Evidenced by me crying on an airplane!) But at all times from the moment they meet Aaron and Simon are there for each other and prove the power of their love to overcome whatever life deals them.

“Tiny: So, you nervous? ...
A: No.
A: Wait. Yes.
A: No, wait. No. Definitely not.
Little: He used to be indecisive, but now he’s not so sure.”

Just going to put this out there...The awesome and very often extremely inappropriate group texts between the Andrews siblings and their significant others are worth the price of the book!!

To say this was an anticipated read for me is a gross understatement. Aaron and Simon stole every scene they were in and I was beyond excited to read their story.

They both had so much more than scorching passion (although they had that in spades). They shared an epic love and were truly each other's home and family. I loved the way they played off Aaron's siblings (best group texts ever) and how the Andrews family rallied around Simon in his time of need. The brilliant way Beth paralleled the loss of Finn's parents with the loss of Aaron's was heart-wrenching and poignant. Love is love and family doesn't always mean blood. For Today really brings home that message.

Beth Cranford is a beautiful writer and I love how she can make you laugh and cry on the same page. Can be read as a standalone but the entire series is a must read.

Review:

Aaron and Simone shine through this whole book and give you a newfound hope in humanity.

I love love love the way B. Cranford allows her reader to see the initial insecurities of both characters, while still showing her readers how deep their love is for each other.

It is absolutely soulful and beautiful.

And reminds us that family is truly family. It doesn’t matter what form it takes. It’s all about true unconditional love and caring.

Nine hundred thousand billion stars for Simon and Aaron and another five billion stars for Finn.

Seventeen years ago, Simon and Aaron fell in love. Over the years they've a made an amazing life for themselves, a one they and their loved ones are proud of. Sure, Aaron's parents are still colossal jerks but he's trying to get over that detail. Then life throw them a curveball and now they have a responsibility they never thought they'd be up for.

Their lives are about to change forever with no clue what might the future hold. All they can do in live for today.

I am so much in love with this entire story and all of the characters in it. I don't even know how to deal with myself after this book.

Aaron and Simon have to be the two most perfect for each other people in the entire history of the World. They balance and ground each other in the most important ways. I love their relationship and just their entire dynamics. I'd be 100% correct in saying that their's is the most pure, good and balanced relationship I've ever read.

I am genuinely so happy and proud of having read a book that not only correctly portrays a gay relationship and also shows that the struggles of the LGBT community are very very real. B. Cranford deserves a standing ovation for writing such an inclusive, beautiful book.

Also, special mention for my little baby Finn, if he was a real kid I'd run away with him and make sure he became the president of the entire world.

This is a M/M story beautifully written that tugged at the heart strings had me invested right from the start.
Aaron and Simon have been together forever, through good times and bad. I loved them as secondary characters in the previous books in The Avenue series and was hopeful that one day we would get the story of how they came together and how they have become the mainstay of the group of family and friends.
Being together has meant that they have had many hurdles to overcome throughout their relationship, starting with the horrid rejection by Aaron’s family when he came out.
There was so much pain and, heartache within this story that I was moved to tears on several occasions. However, having said that, there was also so much love, acceptance and passion within the pages of For Today that B. Cranford balanced the read in a way only she can.
There were times when I laughed out loud and got funny looks from those around me but through it all I knew that this was a special story that was meant to be told.
For Today is a story of unconditional love., that Love is Love and family is not always made up of blood, that it can take any shape or form and this shines through in For Today.
It was wonderful to catch up on the characters from the previous books as to me it is like visiting with old friends and family.
One click now, you really don’t want to miss this story.

Sweet, sexy, and often hilarious.
B. Cranford has managed to add fun, banter, quirkiness and a healthy dose of relatability to a story about love, and family, and friendship.
Loved seeing cameos by the other 'Avenue' characters.
I don't think I stopped smiling throughout the entire story.

For Today and Always!
For Today by B. Cranford is an emotional, heartwarming and inspiring love story. Aaron and Simon will make you laugh and swoon and cry. Their relationship is one of the most beautiful and endearing that I have read. The chemistry is potent. The banter fun and substantial. Aaron and Simon are #couplegoals!

Ms. Cranford introduces us to Aaron and Simon when they are in college. She gifts the reader with the experience of their initial encounter and engulfs us into their journey over the course of a few decades. Their highs and lows are relatable. Their hopes and fears are palpable. These two souls will make you yearn for the type of love they share. The bond between them is magnificent!

For Today is a testament to the power of love. When you find love, work to nurture it, and continue to fight for it....magic happens. This love story spotlights the fact that a family is more than just one formed of our blood. A family is born of our hearts and forged by understanding and love. Aaron and Simon remind us all that love knows no race, religion, sex, or bounds. Love IS love and that IS amazing!

Let me start out by saying I knew what I was going to be reading before I started. This is the story of Aaron and Simon and how they came to be together. What I didn’t know was THEIR story. Well prepare yourself to be mesmerized. From the very beginning of their meeting you are hooked into the loves of these two gorgeous beings. Oh yes, they are both gorgeous from a physical stand, but they’re so much more than just physically beautiful. Their whole being has an essence that shines from the inside out. When they met the word kismet burst into my mind. It was meant to be. It was funny and cute as anything but it was meant to be. At least that’s I think.

This book hits all the feels. It has smiles, angst, comedy, tragedy, hope, romance, it will make you angry and then flip the script and make you swoon. Don’t worry it packs the heat but it’s written in a beautiful way. Please don’t get me wrong it’s hot, but you feel the love of these two individuals every moment. Aaron, during the course of his story unfortunately, has his own family drama to deal with. It’s heart rending. On the fortunate side he has family, friends and Simon to help him through. I’m not giving anything away it’s in the blurb. Simon, has a different kind of drama to deal with in his life. If I’ve learned anything in this life it’s that out of something bad comes something good. Yes, something very good comes into Simon’s life.

You will get to see all the characters you fell in love with from previous books and some you didn’t. I really enjoyed seeing them brought back. It’s like catching up with friends and family who you haven’t seen in a long time. Here’s the thing though, if you haven’t read the other books I still think this stands on it’s own. You get great background and content. So you’re not standing in the dark.

People will ask,”What trope is this book”? Many times I’m not sure how to answer that question because books are not one dimensional. They can bring everything into a story. Life itself brings everything into your story. So, I guess my answer is, it’s a love trope. Yes, it’s between two men. Then it’s a love trope between family and friends with trials and tribulations. This story is more than two males who fell in love. Although, being two males has a major impact on the story. They had to deal with issues of bigotry and ignorance. This is a story of survival and self love. Like I said this is so much more.

I have to wrap this up otherwise I’ll just keep blathering on about how much I love this book. To summarize let me just add if you like a book that brings all the feels then this is the book for you. If you want to see life from a different angle than what you’re probably use to, then you want this book. If you want to see true love than you will buy this book. If you believe in soulmates and destiny you will stay up all night reading this book. If you believe in boundless love...well you know the rest!

I’ve loved Aaron and Simon since they first appeared in About Time and I’m so happy that their story gets told in this book.

Aaron and Simon have had their fair share of trials over the years - Aaron’s own parents disowned him for ‘choosing’ to be gay. But Aaron’s siblings, Ashton and Austin, stood by him and disowned their parents right back.

Seventeen years later, Simon and Aaron are married and living a great life with their modified family. The story is firstly told in a series of flashbacks, filling in Aaron’s part of the family story that we got glimpses of in the first two books in this series.

After all these years of feeling that their lives are complete, fate steps in and forces them to make room in their home and their hearts for another: cute, adorable Finn, Simon’s nephew. But it’s a bittersweet addition tinged with tragedy.

The new ‘family’ find their feet slowly, and Finn brings all of the things to Simon and Aaron’s life that they didn’t even know were missing. Supported by their extended family, this fabulous couple just grow in their love for one another.

This book is the missing piece to the series; it complements the other two books so well. As much love as I have for the other books (and I do), I think this is my favourite. Simon and Aaron’s resilience, their unflinching love for each other is just goals.

I do hope this isn’t the last time we visit The Avenue. They are such a rich group of characters, there is still so much more I want to know. And so many more puns and innuendoes to be delivered. The laughs that weaved through this book left me with a smile on my face at the end. Just perfect.

Where do I start and what can I say that hasn’t already been said before !! Well I’m starting with this is a beautifully written love story it had me feeling everything I want in a great romance and if you love M/M stories that tug on your heartstrings this is a must read...
Aaron and Simon have been together for what feels like forever and I’m so glad this author decided to give us their story because let’s be honest who can resist teasers like “I’ve loved you since you stole my seat” and that’s where it all began for this wonderful couple. For Today is book 3 in The Avenue Series but it actually takes us back to Simon and Aaron’s first meeting and their journey up to today.
Best friends are always important to us but it’s when your best friend is also your lover you realise they are the most important person in your life and this book is all about important people and important stages we go through when we embark on love, it has all the feels, you will laugh, you will cry and you will get angry for everything these guys go through on their journey to their HEA. It was great to catch up with characters I had fallen in love with from previous books but please remember this book can be read as a stand-alone though I’m sure if this is your first B. Cranford book you will be clambering for more. This book will certainly be on my best read list of 2018 and once again I’m just going to say this is a MUST READ!!!!

The Avenue Series

For Today....the story of Aaron and Simon.  This story was demanded by Ms. Cranford's fans.

I am going to be honest here and say that the M/M trope isn't usually my cup of tea, but if a story is written well it really doesn't matter what "trope" it is.  And this story is so much more than that.

This story of Aaron and Simon is so much more than a couple in love and making a life together.  These two have been together for years, through good and bad.

This deep down, is a story of unconditional love and most importantly family.  Not the family you are born into, but the family you love and create from your heart and soul. This is the story of creating a life for yourself and surrounding yourself with your tribe, your people, your ride or die.

Aaron and Simon have a love that knows no color, no race, no gender and it is beautiful.  The steamy times are just amazing, all sorts of sexy and tasteful without being "in your face". Ms. Cranford has a talent of really bringing you into the story, making you feel all the feels and wishing you were a part of the Foster-Andrews' family.

Even through adversity, hate and strife, Aaron and Simon rise above and love each other even harder.  They are some of the lucky few that find their happily ever after.  They don't hide their feelings, they don't stop communicating and that what makes them work!

So well written, I love this whole family!! One's born into it and those who were chosen to be a part of it!

I've never read B. Cranford before and I'm so glad I did. She took a couple who were so filled with love and made me fall in love with them. It was such a sweet story. Simon and Aaron... One of the best M/M couples out there. They had an amazing connection, scorching chemistry, and epic love. The kind of love that you can't help but root for, from beginning to end. The way their love story unfolded was so genuine, so realistic, so honest (and so freaking hot).

The family... I don't know what to say about the family. They were the best kind of side characters you can hope for. They are funny and so full of heart. Watching Aaron come out and the treatment he received.... It broke my heart in the worst way, but I'm so glad Simon was there.

Truly, you couldn't help rooting for Simon and Aaron from the very beginning. The way B. Cranford captured these characters, they felt real. Like they lived off the page and you were watching their stories unfold in front of you.

B. Cranford is an amazing writer. She made my heart hurt and soar. She made me feel all the emotions and then made me chuckle. I was seriously impressed by this story, by these characters, by this author. I will definitely be checking out more from her.

My favorite books are the ones where I feel connected to the story and the characters. From page one, I knew that, For Today, would be such a book. B. Cranford, built an emotional, funny, sexy, and at times heartbreaking story around these two wonderfully complex men, Simon and Aaron. Their personal journeys as gay men coupled with the struggles and difficulties they faced as a couple were incredibly real and raw. I loved watching their relationship evolve through the years from their first meeting when Simon steals Aaron seat to eighteen years later when their love still burned brighter than ever. "I'll never love anyone like I love you." His voice was still nothing more than a whisper in the ever darkening room, but Simon's mouth curving into that f***ing smile that owned Aaron said everything. Simon heard his promise. He'd understood what it meant. And he felt the same way...Gahhhh - sooo goood! As I read the last page of this fantastic read, my heart was full.

I have been waiting for Simon and Aaron's story from book one and WOW I was not disappointed at all. Simon and Aaron were soulmates from the minute they saw each other and not parental hatred, ethnicity bias or being disinherited could keep them apart. This story was so beautifully written and the characters had such depth that every emotion throughout the pages automatically were felt by the reader. There were many times I was caught with a huge smile across my face as well as wiping tears from my cheeks while I was reading. A true heartwarming romance that every other relationship can learn from. 5 Stars are not enough!!

Having read the previous books in this series, I was delighted that A and Si got their own story. Reading about how they met and the struggles they faced and overcame because they were a solid unit felt real and not romanticized. I love A's ability to turn anything into a dirty joke and how Simon loves him all the more for it. There were parts that broke my heart and other parts that made me laugh out loud. Overall, this book was a terrific read and a great ending to the series. I highly recommend this book if you want to read what real love looks like. This did not read like a romance novel, but as a story of real, forever love.

I have been waiting for A and Si's story and Beth did not disappoint! A is and has always been an integral part of Little (About Time-The Avenue 1) and Tiny's (Because Forever-The Avenue 2) lives that it was only fitting he got his own story. From their first meeting to their present day lives, it was heartwarming to sit with A and Si and delve deep into who they are and what they've overcome. I was sad to see the story end and feeling a little lost.

For Today is my favorite kind of story—a story of unwavering, epic love. The kind of love that withstands the test of time, adversity, and tragedy. A superhero kind of love—that’s what Aaron and Simon have. The writing was beautiful, the connection was palpable, and the heat between these two was off the freaking charts. So, so good!!

“I’ll never forget the first time I saw you, and how badly I wanted to know you. I’ll never stop wanting to know you—what you’re thinking, what you’re wanting, where you’re going, and if I can come. too.”
