This book is the story of my personal struggle growing up homosexual in a conservative family and the misinformation about food and wellness which caused health problems that extended into adulthood. After getting thyroid cancer in 2014 and finding myself unaided by medical institutions I learned about human biology and fixed it myself. This understanding of the human body also helped me find the cause and cures for a host of other problems which commonly plague us, and this book shows you how to achieve real and lasting health and find relief from a host of debilitating metabolic problems using easy and accessible strategies. Both print and eBook versions of this book are available at www.fuckportioncontrol.com
More than just another nutrition book. Originally recommended to me by my nutritionist, this book really delves deep into the science of nutrition and the various conditions and diseases we encounter when things go awry. The book is scientific but its not difficult at all to read because Nathan explains the concepts so clearly. Another thing that sets this book apart is that it is autobiographical. Nathan's childhood and adult experiences that have led to many of his nutrition discoveries are told in a way that brings this book to life. The concepts have been tried and tested on himself as he recovered from many ailments over the years. I bought this as an ebook and I find myself going back to it regularly to search for information. I have already tried out several of the gut health strategies and have had some real success. I hope this book reaches a wide audience as I think most people could benefit from reading it and applying its principles.
This book is amazing. I always loved good food, sugar, sun.. but lately, all you see in the media says that all that gives you cancer. Never really believed it, but still, my health started making me question everything. This book gave me the answers I needed. My hands and feet are warm again, i didn't have a flu in years and i don't have the anxiety of "what should i eat/ drink/ do?" anymore. Thank you, Nathan.
Good insights here for people interested in the bioenergetic / Ray Peat perspective. My only wish for the book structure is that there would have been an actionable summary for each chapter/topic, or a simple bullet list of "for this condition, start with xyz", or an "immediately stop these things" list, since the book is decently long and the whole text is story/narrative, so it's a bit hard to pull out the actionable information.
