One of the darkest days in Wyoming's history occurred on September 2, 1885 when white immigrant coal miners attacked Chinese miners resulting in the deaths of dozens of Chinese men and women. This story, however, is a fictional account of what the local sheriff was going through during the violence. When gunfighter Ben Cooper arrives in the town of Rock Springs the rumor spreads that he is there for a showdown with Sheriff Grat Dawson. Cooper, however, is there to meet with a local rancher who wants have three men killed. Cooper becomes suspicious that the rancher has another motive in mind besides the murders of the three men. Instead of working for the rancher Cooper goes to work for the sheriff. With tension building between the two groups of miners the sheriff and Cooper are kept busy attempting in their attempts to quiet the rabble rousers. This book is action packed from start to finish.
