This book was written in 1952 and it is clear that the breaking style for horses was much more demanding and unforgiving by the tone of the book. Such as saving spurring, but quirting the horse on the nose for bucking was essential for discipline. This book was promoted as a, "how to use the hackamore" book. But there are terms that are not well defined in the book, that makes someone from more modern times, as in 62 years after its writing, unclear as to what is meant. Such as "Doubling" I think this means using 2 sets of reins, but I am not sure. That does seem to be what it means later in the book as with using a snaffle bridle and the hackamore together, but maybe it means something else near the beginning of the book and the training used.

I feel like this is a book that you may have to read more than once to really get all of the knowledge out of it. It would be great if someone with hackamore "know how" was willing to update this book with more concise language as I feel like it could be valuable with better descriptions, live pictures and better defined terms.

Not quite what I was expecting but I still gained something from this book. Hackamore Reinsman is like reading an old cowboys explanation. Being newer to the horse world I probably lack some of the basic know how needed to get these lessons but the book was hard to understand at some points. Learning to ride isn't easy so I'm sure trying to write directions to teach riding is even tougher.
