Such technologies can therefore provide not only solutions to pressing environmental problems, but also major commercial opportunities for UK companies. This ACOST report focuses on cleaner technologies, those which reduce demand for raw materials and energy, and which are inherently less wasteful and polluting. It comments on the initiatives being taken in this area by the Department of Trade and the Advisory Board for the Research Councils.
