As soon as I started this book I knew I had to go back and read Book 1 in the series. As it was, I think I made it through Amasai okay without doing that, but I’m full of questions now until I do read Book 1.

This book starts out with Azlana, or 'Lana as she is known. She is running for her life with only a horse-type or maybe camelish thing with telepathic powers. She talks in pictures but the longer they are together, the more 'Lana understands her. They find out more of 'Lana's heritage and destiny from Fiora the Dragon.

The second half of the book is told in the voice of Luka, 'Lana's best, and possibly her only friend in the village. He has his heritage sprung on him and decides to go find 'Lana, who may be in trouble. He is captured by the fae and meets folk her never expected to.

As usual, this ends in a cliffhanger and I can’t wait for the next book to come out. I think it is fine for middle-school aged and up, maybe even grade school advanced readers who like adventure, different types of fairy folk and Dragons!

Azlana flees because of the pressure put on her to fulfill her fate/destiny. Luka finds out he’s a changeling!

This story focuses on Azlana in the first bit and Luka for the rest of the novel. Showing how these two best friends connect and how Luka takes into learning about his true self was great. So many questions came up as Luka decided to runaway after finding out he was a changeling. Some answered, while new ones formed.

This sequel will not disappoint. Makes me feel like Luka is key in helping Azlana reach her destiny, but that’s one of many theories I have.

An amazing addition to the series, and a great story in itself. I loved the growth of our established characters, and the introductions so some new faces. This book will be a great addition to anyone's middle grade and up collection. I am looking forward to seeing where things go, and what some characters are working on behind the scenes.

Note: I did recieve an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Lots of character building. Good characters but I was confused at times with the past and the present, kind of overwhelming. This story shows great promise and am looking forward to seeing how the story all comes together in the next book.

I’ve waited months for the chance to review this story. I did have to return to part 1 to refresh my memory. I’m glad I did though, as I was having a difficult time following along without the refresher.

I’ve talked about stories like this in the past. Not YA-Fantasy, but books that are written like they’re parts rather than separate stories. This one picks up right where the first left off, which is why I refer to it as part 2 in my review. If you liked Ring of Fire or Amasai Rising, then you’ll like this. As it’s more of the same.

Anhedonia is a bit of a slow burn, for lack of a better word. Not a whole lot happens. I’m personally fine with it. It introduces a few new characters and builds on others’ backstories. This is the kind of series that focuses more on the characters who wouldn’t normally be put into the timeline in other books. That’s what I like about it.

The only complaint I have with this story is the ending felt abrupt. This is a series I think you should really read (or listen to) back to back. Unfortunately at the time of writing this, book 3 isn’t on Audible. I’m sure I’ll be listening to all 4 stories in a single sitting when it is though.

The narration is excellent. To be honest, I kinda forgot I was listening to an audiobook. I didn’t notice any chapter headers, mispronounced words, or common Audible errors. So I just let the story play while I did other things.

This is a great series and I recommend it to anybody who is into YA novels and or fantasy.

Fun Continuation, Fae Adventure For Young Readers

This picks up where the first book left off and then simmers before taking off again. It really felt like a bit of a reverse narative arch in my opinion. Book two starts with some exciting parts and then kind of slows down simmers... then it picks up and ends rather abruptly. Their is great world building and it does leave off in a spot that does leave you wanting more. Just be prepared to read these in order and pretty quickly next to each other, it feels very much like one of those mini series that we end up binge watching from start to finish.

This is a clean read - G level, free of any: bad language, graphic violence and intimate situations/scenes. It really is a great fantasy for the elementary school age reader on up, although as an adult the pre-teen angst got a little grating for me (probably doesn't help that I am in that stage and older with my own kids now).

The narrator did a good job with the voices and overall acting. I felt it was a tad slow but once I sped it up to 1.25x it was much better.

This book is an interesting continuation of the last one. I am not sure if there is a gap between the two, or if I just forgot too much! However, the author does a great job of drawing me in, and by the time that I finish, I do not want it to be over. Stevie has left yet another clif-hanger, and I can't wait to read the next one!

This is the second book of the Amasai Rising Trilogy. It is the continuation of the story of Princess Azlana who now finds herself imprisoned by a dragon, Fiora.

The story goes on to tell what happens to Luka and his quest for Azlana in the Twilight Realm where he becomes a captive of the Fae.

This is a most enjoyable fairy tale.

I am about to start reading book 3
