Thousands flock to Florida's “forgotten” coast for the pristine white sands, unparalleled fishing and exquisite peace. There are countless reasons to stay — discovering someone shot to death isn’t one. When the murdered body of a Florida State University student is found among the seagrass and white sand, Franklin County is once again thrown into turmoil. The town of Carrabelle may seem quaint on the surface, but danger lurks beneath.  Tasked with solving the case, feisty, ex-U.S. Marshal Skylar Reid and cranky veteran, Harvey Baker must navigate through a mystery with more twists and turns than the murky rivers of the south. Now Skylar must race against time, survive the lies and uncover the secrets before spring break is over. Easier said than done.

Great Book

I really enjoyed this book, it took off from the start and held my attention to the very end. I really like the world building in this book, it makes me want to go to the gulf coast for a vacation. The heroine in the book has some issues but she learning to live again after tragedy changed her world completely, she getting better slowly I think but still has the guts it takes to take names and kick butt. I highly recommend this book.

Love the characters!

Emma Rose Watts has assembled an interesting main group of characters for her Coastal Suspense Series: Skylar, Harvey, Ben, Donnie, Barb, Chief Davenport. The bad guys interact with this group. Day-to-day crime solving mingle with every day life on the Florida Coast. Unfortunately, fraternity hazing and drug making run afoul of the police. This book is a great entry into the series. Skylar might just make it back from her hell on earth.

What a wonderful book.

In fact this series is really good. Well written. Unexpected. I've read all three and really enjoy that the characters aren't perfect. They have faults, they make mistakes. The story flows and you really want to stay for the ride. I am looking forward to the next one!!

This wasn't my intention

I was searching for something to read, love coastal writings. I recognized all the area from previous visits the Gulf. Bought the first one. Fairly enjoyable. Intrigued. Read the next two. Now I'll go looking for Book 4. Nothing heavy, deep, just an entertaining read.

love the series

Skylar is a great character to root for. She was with US Marshall’s but lost her fiancé and baby and quit and moved to northern Florida. She is a detective in a small town and lives on a friends boat. Her methods go against her rule following partner Harvey. Love the characters and their flaws.

Ready for next one

These books are well written, and keep your interest. I guess you could read as a stand alone, but definitely better if read in order. There are enough twists to keep your interest, but the stories aren't complicated. A good book, overall.

Another good “Who Done It?”

This book is the 3rd in this series and they keep getting better. The characters are believable and the story is interesting. Just don’t expect real descriptions of the places named. The author embellished a lot in that area.

Great storyline with real life issues

I love reading books with settings in areas that I've vacationed in and to add to it the mystery in the storyline is great and keeps you wondering without being too unbelievable.

Love this book

Great summer read. I love the mystery but I also love the characters. I always finish her books in one reading session. She has become one of my favorite authors. Also, I live in Northwest Florida not to far from Carrabelle. You will enjoy this series

Fraternities

People from their own 'clans', and identify insiders and outsiders, but sometimes the rolls get confused, and people get caught in the cross fire. Good story.

Pretty dang good

You do a good job of keeping the people that are suspect really human it their actions. Pretty much a natural fit for the mystery as it unfolds.
