This book provides an extremely pragmatic approach to reading as a way of extracting and implementing useful information and insights in the most efficient manner possible. In contrast with many of the traditional reading methods most of us have been taught at school, the author urges us to begin with some purpose for reading in mind, and then scan through the index, foreword, and concluding chapter of the book to determine whether it's worth reading in the first place. After we start reading, scan and skim for contents relevant to our purpose, while at the same time making special marks and taking notes at the margins. Most important of all is perhaps to sort together and type out all the important parts into a single Microsoft Word file which we can print out to carry around wherever we go for repeated reviews.
