Thru thick trees, Shorty saw flames of a campfire and dismounted several yards away. Walking in slowly not making a sound, he saw a little girl no more than maybe ten or so stirring something in a skillet over the fire. He came close enough she could make him out in the dim light so he wouldn’t scare her. “Hello the fire, Polly can I come in?” “Yes Sir Marshal Shorty.” She never stopped stirring. Shorty walked up saying, “I see you have two plates setting there. Where’s Dean?” “Hid out yonder in the dark with a rifle pointed dead center of your chest.” She kept right on stirring. Shorty took a deep breath. “Whoa now! Don’t you think you ought’a call him off?” She stopped stirring, looked up and hollered out, “Hey Dean, it’s nobody! Oh yes it is, it’s U.S. Marshal Shorty! Sorry Marshal Shorty, I just mean it was nobody he had to shoot.”
Paul L Thompson is one of my favorite writers, I read every book on U. S. Marshall Shorty Thompson I can find. I really enjoy these books. I look forward to the next one. Thank you, Paul L. Thompson, for a great read.
Another outstanding episode of the U. S. Shorty Thompson series, and probably one of the better ones. This is one of the more fascinating western adventures selections I have had ad the opportunity to follow. Never a dull moment throughout the entire series.
Again, five stars or more! These stories are very heartwarming and very entertaining, as well as being full of many different adventures of our true old west.
I have read all fifty six of this series and haven't read one that failed to meet my expectations. All storylines are unbelievably fulfilling and the entire set of characters, throughout the entire set of books are specifically designed to meet the desired effect a reader looks for.
Mr. Paul L. Thompson consistently improves with each new episode, and is no doubt the master of our true old western adventures.
Without hesitation, I recommend this entire compilation of successful adventures of our real old western adventures to all lovers of real American folklore. This novel is a continual successful of adventurous endeavors by the characters that maintained my complete attention from beginning to end.
I firmly believe all of you, who reads this series, will be as spellbound as I have been. You're definitely the loser, if you don't follow the entire series!
Robbery, ranch burning and anything else you want to hear, went on during this assignment for U.S.Marshal Shorty Thompson. Some big land firm in the East, has hired a field representative to buy farms that people had lived and farmed on for years. Some sort of government land grant that allowed folks to own. But as usual you have some greedy representative from the company who hires thugs to run rough shard over these poor farmers. This particular bunch just went in fast with guns blazing murdering everyone in sight so that this real estate agent could send the information back to this eastern syndicate and enriching himself with more money. One of the many things you read about is how much liquor these men drank. The liquor was made out of everything imaginable, or better still what was at hand. I'm surprised there wasn't more incidents of alcohol poisoning, because these men sure did a lot of drinking, a bunch of drunks. They didn't seem to care about saving for a rainy day or most importantly old age. U.S. Marshal Shorty Thompson did what he always did and he Dunnie will be heading home to his ranch. So U.S.Marshal Shorty Thompson ride easy and watch your back, because we want to read about your next adventurous assignment wherever it leads.
A Shorty Thompson Western (56)/A Corporation Land Grab by Murder
PLT has penned the 56th novel of the Shorty Thompson series which contains a land grab by an Eastern Corporation owned by people living in England. The orders were to move the nesters and small ranchers by force of necessary. One young boy fights back and eventually Marshal Thompson enters the fight and chased the criminals all over the southwest. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
