Edge of Reflection #2

Figments of Fear

Gabe is closer to catching up to his sadistic doppelganger, Cutter, but in a dark mirror world, it seems everyone and everything is hell-bent on stopping him. With demons, horrific creatures, and violent criminals luring around every corner, Gabe finds that his friends, and the woman he's falling in love with, are paying too high a price in order to help him on his mission. This is a dark urban fantasy novel with some graphic content.Note: This is a new version of this book. The length seemed to be intimidating to potential readers so I broke Twisted Mirrors up into two parts and will continue to publish this series in smaller parts (around 200 pages each). If you've already purchased the full version of Twisted Mirrors (also called Darkness of Man before the title change), that was listed at $3.99, then please don't buy this book. Jump straight to book 3, Seed of Sin. If you've recently purchased the $.99 version of Twisted Mirrors, then this is the part 2 you need to read to continue on with the story.Thank you so much for reading.Carver Pike

This series just doesn't get enough love. It's not extreme like the authors other work, but it is fantastic.
There's just so much substance to the story. The range of emotions you feel is crazy. The characters are full of life, not flat.

Incredible urban fantasy

Have you ever read a book that is so descriptive and beautifully written that you actually feel like your watching a movie instead of reading a book? The is is one of those times. So hold on you're in for an amazing adventure. This story is fast paced and action pact. This is one of those reads that once you start you won't be putting it down. Its a dark, sexy, fantasy that will have you from page one! The thing I love most about this series is that in the middle of the danger and adventure is a hot love story with incredible characters. Just fabulous!

This series has literally got me my the throat. As I get more and more invested in this book I find myself at times clutching my hands so tight my knuckles are white. Other times I notice my breathing has accelerated because I feel as if I'm right there with Gabe on his journey.

Through all the obstacles that are thrown at Gabe in this twisted world that he's ended up in. With a bounty on his head he's determined to make it to the Slums of York and save Allie even though let's face it, she probably doesn't deserve it.

Through his journey Gabe meets up with a strange group to say the least. Some are human and others are images but yet they still fight side by side to protect Gabe and help him on his journey.

The way Chris comes up with the people Gabe faces is amazing from Cloak, Belgrave, FIGMENTS, and Goody Bones. I do need to point out I think Goody Bones is my favorite in my own twisted and demented way.

The most amazing thing though is through all this craziness that has your brain on constant rapid fire. Chris manages to give us not only a fantastic book of an urban psychological thriller, sorry Chris, but a love story and a story about friendship and what you'll do for those that you really care about.

This review is going to be all over the place. To start I’m going to say I’m not sure. I mean, it was an interesting addition to the first story and I really liked the characters but for some reason I couldn’t love it. I really enjoyed Gabe and Lisa and even Ivy in this story sometimes. The whole different world and the mirrors and the good vs evil and all that was addictive.

This book had its twisted scenes, and a romance that I craved and that kept me pushing through when I thought I might stop. Now don’t take that the wrong way, I’m not huge on 3rd POV and I think that’s something that contributed to my lack of loving it.

This has that dark feel that I love but the jumping from characters got to me a little. I know we needed it to get the whole big picture but it still wasn’t my favorite. I really want to know how it ends because like I said, I love Gabe and Lisa so will totally keep reading so that I can find out what’s going to happen after the ending of this book because man! That was some ending, (not so much a cliffhanger, just a taste that something more is coming). It wasn’t a bad book but it wasn’t a book that was 100% for me either. I’m going to blame it on 3rd POV, which isn’t my cup of tea. I’m giving it 4 stars because I do think it was good, great writing, great characters and an intriguing plot. 4 star #2OCCJD

I didn't know if I would like this book as its not a genre I would read.  I went on an amazing journey.  From the first couple of pages to the end it was fast paced and action packed.  Some parts were a bit much for me but I covered my eyes and read through the slits. Sometimes authors put too much violence in the writing that really doesn't go with the story, but this author only wrote what was necessary to the storyline. I can read most things if it's important to the story. I loved the characters they became a family of sorts and I very much wanted them to succeed.  It's not often that a book can make me cry but this one had me in tears at one point.  It made me think as well that we all have two sides to us the good/bad but at our core most of us are good.   What societies perception of us and who we are can be totally different. I can't wait for more from this author totally enjoyed the book.

Dark Fantasy

I felt it all.... I was a part of this book..... Running scared for my life.
Remember the name Chris Genovese because this book could compete with some of the greats like Stephen King.
It will keep you hiding behind your pillow and then hugging that same pillow. I can't wait to get started on the third book.
I love how Chris can scare the carp out of me in this book but in the middle of scaring me there is a amazing true love story.
I will never ever walk down a dark alley, mirrors are more than arms length away.... Absolutely action packed beautifully written I felt like I was being pulled through the mirror myself!!! Bravo... To think I didn't even want to read this series!!! So glad I did!!!! Thanks

This is book 2 and I must admit I am really enjoying this series.

Gabe, Lisa, and their new-found friends are traveling to the Slums of New York to find Allie in the hopes that Gabe and his image, Cutter, can switch places. But on the way, they encounter all different types of problems including a huge bounty out for Cutter, figments, Belgrave, Goody Bones and most of all Cloak. But they eventually make it to the mirror and Ally but something drastic happens and changes both Gabe and Lisa’s lives.

“You’re going to change things, Gabe. You’ll change the darkness to light.”—Ivy

The is a wild tale of mirrors, evil twins, and mayhem. One you will not stop reading until the very last word. One that feels so real as you are reading. I love it when a book is so vibrant you feel like you are part of every emotion experienced. I'm ready to read more of Gabe and Lisa's tale. What a book!!!!
