Kitty

Rate this book
Kitty is the child of an unhappy marriage. Sent to boarding school, she is still aware of the destruction that is being wrought at home. Instinctively she fights to defend the weaker partner - it is a fight she is doomed to lose and her story unfolds with a compelling sense of tragic inevitability. Nevertheless there is comedy too; Kitty's humour and self-awareness are as moving as the tragedy of her situation. Margaret Bacon conveys with great insight the lonely and often desperate world of the solitary adolescent.
