A very young and dark life, this is the story of Leon R. Walker's youth and his deeply rooted de-mons. From his earliest memories to his last year of high school, he recalls in great detail, his childhood as disturbing, turbulent, and mind shattering. Born in 1965, as a black kid growing up in the inner city of Cleveland and East Cleveland in the 70s and early 80s, he was exposed to pov-erty, racism, and violence. The victim of a broken home, Leon somehow survived his youth, de-termined to learn from his mistakes and succeed in a seemingly inhospitable world. His young mind warped, his eyes deceived, he saw and engaged in things no child his age should ever see, or do. His life BROKEN!

Domestic violence, homelessness, drugs, alcoholism, and molestation are only a few of Leon’s struggles as a child growing up in one of the worst neighborhoods in Cleveland, Ohio. Broken is a gripping true story by Leon R Walker, Jr. about overcoming adversity. The first book in a series about Leon’s life, Broken, is a must-read for every young man or woman today. Leon shows the resiliency of the human spirit and a man’s determination to survive the life he has been given. The vivid language instantly transports the reader into his hellish world. A book about not letting past choices define who you are today.

Leon says it eloquently, “...invest in yourself so that you may, as a human being, invest righteously in others. You have so much to give and so much more to offer. Power isn’t given to us. It’s earned.”

Cathartic

This is a very raw, real, insightful piece of work. For those who are now taking the path you took, I hope they use your book as a guide to empy the demons from their souls and refill and replenish their souls with God. They, too, will then begin to live a purposeful life, and their souls will no longer be the devil's playground. I know someone who needs this book, and I hope they're one day blessed enough to come across it and brave enough to fight and regain their power like you did. Great work and great read! Thank you!

Amazing story of a broken child and a healed man

Leon Walker holds nothing back as he details his life as a child....the loving family...then the dysfunction, the divorce, every kind of childhood heartache and pain. The author holds nothing back. It is a tale for our times. The narrative of so many young lives today!! There are some parallels to my own life. I loved this book and anxiously await the author's next.
