A truly beautiful read of the developing relationship between destitute and orphaned Angie Sheridan and Breccan Ascalden, Chief Lord of Aligoron. Angie has spent the last several years alone and trying to survive since her parents died. She has learned of the healing powers of herbs and flowers and she has been tutored by the pastor and his wife in Godly ways. Unfortunately, she has missed the opportunity that most ladies have to dance, date, flirt, and mingle while chaperoned with the opposite sex. Angie is shy, chaste and considered to be past marriageable age. Breccan was married once before and was betrayed by his wife. He has no interest in opening his heart or his home to another woman who can destroy his heart or his self-esteem. He much prefers being alone and being angry. As Angie moves into his home as his mother's lady's companion, he can't help but find himself intrigued by her. Not because she is dressed to attract attention, but because she is shy and refined and does not seek any man's attention. That behavior is so odd, Breccan can't help but be aware of it. Their friendship grows and they slowly begin to learn about the hurts each has suffered and survived. The story is warm, funny, and quite realistic. If you love stories that warm your heart and make you smile, I would recommend this read.
Hannah skillfully creates a charming romantic tale centred around faith and love. This story of hope presents readers with the reassurance that love will always prevail no matter how dim life becomes. Angie's and Breccan's love story is enriched with suspense, drama and a fulfilling message of faith. All readers can expect a meaningful story with colourful characters creating the perfect portrait of love in its purest form.
