When Sofia is around, every moment of every day is exciting. This spunky 7-year-old can even make having the hiccups fun! Can you imagine what kind of fun Sofia will have at her first quinceañera or when the lights go out? No matter what happens, it will be memorable if Sofia is involved! This early chapter book from the Sofia Martinez series includes Spanish words in the text and a Spanish glossary.

This was a fun read, and absolutely full of life. Written mainly in English with hints of Spanish, Sofia Martinez offers the day to day lifestyle of Sofia and her family, and the ways that they maker their time fun. Sofia is allowed to make mistakes, allowed to explore, allowed to expand on her ideas, and it's incredible. Not only that, but the illustrations truly make it all come together! This easy reader is easily a must-have!
My second grader is really enjoying the Sofia Martinez series. In this book, Sofia does not follow her mother's directions and accepts the consequences with an appropriate attitude. The other two stories involve a case of the hiccups and the electricity being out. I enjoy the creative ways that situations are dealt with and the ongoing positive relationships between family members. The illustrations are bright and appealing. I'm sure I will be reading several more books from this series in the near future.
Like Katie Woo and Yasmin, this book includes a few readers packaged into a chapter book. Sofia is spunky and sweet and has fun adventures with her family. Spanish words are included throughout the text, mostly in conversations, and they all have a pink font. A glossary/translation is included in the back. I would definitely recommend!
