I bought this while I was pregnant with my first child - faced with a seemingly neverending list of books and blogs and co-workers who all spouted opinions as though they were fact, I was concerned that I wasn't actually getting good, science-based information. This small text provided a fantastic overview for labor and delivery without going into massive detail like a larger textbook would. It has visuals of some procedures, for example, forceps delivery and repair of tears, in addition to questions that practitioners would ask patients for various complaints.

I also bought and read one of the giant obstetrics textbooks, but I felt like I got the most useful information from this one, as I only really needed practical info, rather than everything. Also, this book is totally affordable, whereas larger texts can run quite expensive. =)
