This author is a good example of how even the legendary tolerance and leniency of the goodreads reviewer community can be strained to the breaking point, and I do not say that lightly.

Not logically consistent and it left me with too many questions

This book didn't really do it for me. I found the transitions to be very awkward and I often got confused as to whose POV was reading.

The transition for Elliott from beta to omega was really sudden and no where near as life changing as I would think it would be for him. Why did Elliott feel that Tate didn't care about whether he was a beta or an omega when, in the last conversation before this came up, Tate called Elliott "his omega" in a moment of passion? And why would it be important for Tate to not care about Elliott's sexuality, but Elliott is constantly referring to Tate by his alpha sexuality?

I thought that Tate choosing to run for mayor of the county came out of left field and I never understood exactly what Sid's endgame was. He wasn't extorting people for protection money, so what did he get out of doing the things that he did? Why didn't Tate move away with Rowan long before this? What was keeping them in this town where they faced so much persecution?

I can't decide if I'm annoyed for finishing this book, or for not just tossing it outright!

This is a really, really poorly written book. The writer mixed up characters and pronouns, included horribly written phrases, sentences dialogue - heck, her grammar, syntax, context - you name it, it was "off" or downright awful or asinine. I began "correcting" things by adding notes into the book; however, they adrenal numerous entire pages were colored with entries I had inserted. I realized that what the book really needed was for the writer to PROOFREAD and EDIT her work, then make corrections to at least the more fundamentally obvious and glaring errors. There were paragraphs that, if read out loud, would have clued her in to the fact that not only were they asinine or trite, they didn't make all that much sense when all she was doing was talking around an idea rather than explaining or clarifying a point that needed clearing up or at the very least, given more detail about. An example of this faux pas was Tate's acceptance speech after his election, and he tried to tell his supporters why he ran for mayor, and their backgrounds that brought them (himself, Elliot, Rowan, Griffin, his friends) to that point as well as his ideas for the community.

This book disappointed me. The only reason I kept reading was to see what happens, and also how the writer was going to actually end this fiasco. Painfully, I discovered. Tate's speech was so convoluted and rambling he sounded like an idiot. In the real world, his supporters would have been looking for ways to get him committed or out of office. Shaw has written better and more coherent books before. She had some solid storylines; she couldn't follow through with better, more disciplined writing. It was as though she became possessed by a child who was mentally eight (sorry to my eight-year-old grandson who actually writes better than she did here).

At any rate, I wouldn't waste money on this one, though it is available for the time being as a free read through Kindle. I wasted an hour and a half trying to rewrite paragraphs or sentences (gets time consuming as well as frustrating) until I noticed how colorful the first few chapters were when I accidentally held my finger down at the edge of my reader and my pages curled back about six pages. Needless to say, I stopped the notes but could not stop the feeling of bleeding eyeballs and a truly insistent, excruciating migraine behind the bleeding eyeballs. I usually have a mixed medley of feelings upon completion of a book: satisfaction, or sense of repleteness; happiness, to have learned about a fictional experience and the characters involved; or angst in reaction to the experiences and characters. They all provide a measure of learning, be it experiences, styles, relationship issues, whatever. This book? Nothing aside from some editing practice until I got tired of too many of them. And, I already knew how to do that. I like a book that shares a new word with me, or location details, or info about a lifestyle I hadn't known much about before the book. I do not enjoy a book that has me questioning my sanity ten pages into it, nor do I care to wallow in despair over REPEATED errors that are exactly alike on different pages, which tells me the writer has more than a few bad writing habits or simply lacks the ability (hopefully, only bad habits are to blame).

This was a very badly edited and published book.

My first concern is the baby on the cover. The baby
I didn't feel any connection with both MCs, the writing's not my liking. I had difficult time adjusting with the writing style.
This was okay, but I didn't like a weak alpha, I had an urge to yell to the alpha "Oh, come on! You're not that weak!".
But yeah, it's not my story. But I didn't really enjoy it.

Tate Highland is a widower alpha who has been left bereft after the death of his omega in a devastating accident several years previously. When new beta cop Elliot Marie arrives in town he decides to help Tate with the problems he is having with the local police and when he and Tate become close he discovers he may not be a beta after all which is confirmed when he becomes pregnant.
An interesting read.

Single Dad Omega (Road to Forgiveness #2) (ARC) was graciously provided to me by the author for an honest review.

"Strength, Love, and Forgiveness"

As a reader, I have noticed the existence of various times when I have really been put through the gamut when reading a particular book, and, when it comes time to writing a review, so many different thoughts begin to rush around in my mind, thereby making it difficult to be able to put them into any sort of logical order necessary for a great emotional review.  Well, that is my present state.  As I allow everything to settle, from my most recent read, a most unique and highly-emotional read, I will allow all of these rampant thoughts to form a coherent and honest review.  Having just read, Single Dad Omega by Alice Shaw, I have discovered that it was one of the most indescribably emotional and powerful reads I have read in a very long time.  And, I'm glad to have had the opportunity to have read it.  Regardless of the vast spectrum of emotions I had experienced during this read, I really am glad to have experienced it.

Having read and enjoyed the previous book, Secret Baby Omega, from the Road to Forgiveness Series , from this author, I had an idea of what I was getting myself into when I began reading this next release from the same series.  Well..that's what I had thought anyway.  Was I actually prepared?  Umm..no.  No, I was definitely not prepared.  In retrospect, regardless of having read the previous book, nothing would have prepared me for what I had encountered in, Single Dad Omega.  I found that Single Dad Omega was one of those stories which had managed to jam so much into it's plot, that it was difficult to be able to reach other important aspects, which would have been important for a smoother pace, its plot and and, also its storyline as a whole.  This is a heart-breaking, gut-wrenching, and ultimately, a heart-warming story about survival. It's also about the process of attempting to rebuild one's life after surviving a traumatic event, which mercilessly has shred part of one's soul, an event which has been set on replay for years on end.  As if that's not enough, this is  also a story that does contain triggers, in that, it does contain acts of bullying, abuse, corruption, and, also acts of..murder and attempted murder.  It was very often a difficult read.  Did it only contain difficult-to-read moments?  No.  It actually did contain sweet, adorable, beautiful, and heart-warming moments as well.  But, they were, unfortunately, difficult to see due to all of the almost never-ending challenging moments the mc's had to endure time and time again.  I found myself wondering how much the two wonderful, caring, dedicated, and, strong mc's would be able to endure, and where was the happiness that they so desperately had needed and righteously had deserved?  As I continued to struggle my way through this read, as there was nothing that I had wanted more than to see utter happiness and joy be reached by these two amazing men.  It was a long road, but one in which I was glad to have traveled down, where I would be able to support these men and their family through vasts amounts of crying, shock, bawling, and, huge amounts of crazy-strong hugs.  And, with that, I'd sure glad I did...

Single Dad Omega, by Alice Shaw, is a story about two men, Tate and Elliot, who are struggling through their prospective lives for similar, but yet, very different reasons.  Tate, a hardworking father having lost his husband in a tragic accident, is struggling to not only provide a life for his son Rowan and himself, but also to be able to make it past those visions of the actual event that continue to be a constant struggle for Tate.  Being able to survive something such as this is something insurmountable for anyone, and, to be able to attempt to strive towards this during times of countless hate crimes done unto him and his son, is clearly an impossible feat to accomplish. As Tate and Rowan attempt to rise above this increasingly dark and murky muck, and, have a somewhat normal life, they begin to see a clearing, and, the beginnings of the brightest and most beautiful sun that they have seen in a very long time.  Tate and Rowan found their sunshine...and, his name was Elliot.  Elliot is a transported police officer, a dedicated and loving man, having recently moved from Dallas, for the sole purpose of being able to provide the best kind of care for his ailing father, a retired police officer.  As Elliot desperately tries to take care of his ailing father, the added bullying and acts of vandalism should have pushed him over the edge.  But, they didn't.  As Elliot is that ray of strengthened sunshine, he rose above and made it an even bigger point to help Tate solve the mystery of the countless acts of vandalism as well as the hate crimes which were committed onto Tate, Rowan and, also onto Elliot.  During his time of attempted survival through the ever-present muck, Elliot also came across his own knight-and-shinning-armor..and his name was Tate.

This story, as mentioned briefly, is overflowing with so many different tumultuous moments, with a small tidbit of warm and loving moments, that, it could almost be construed as too much.  As Single Dad Omega is a heart-breaking story about survival, not only for individuals, but, also for families, during times when inferiority and blame run rampant for many individuals.  I absolutely adored Tate, Rowan, Elliot, Lee and a few of the secondary characters.  It was so painful and yet so very heart-warming to see Tate and then Tate and Elliot attempt to discover what was developing between them..an alpha and a beta or an alpha and an omega?  I loved seeing them build a kind of relationship that is one that almost comes out of now where, and, is the perfect answer to the unknown and silent pleas having been made by both men and their friends.  And yet, just as soon as that beautiful flower had started to grow, something catastrophic had occurred to bruise their happiness, thereby making the read almost a desperate read in and of itself, thereby finding it easy to predict some kind of traumatic event happen, yet again, for this loving and developing family.  It was like a rug constantly being yanked right out from underneath this reader, each time I got comfortable.  You see?  It's a lot.  BUT, despite having whiplash from all of those shocking moments, my yells and screams and countless wads of tissues having been used, were completely justifiable when that moment finally had occurred.  Finally.  Wow.  What a tough and rough road Tate, Rowan, and, Elliot had managed to survive by the thinnest of margins.  It was not easy.  Through everything this strong family had gone through, each of them had learned something very valuable, that, it is through unwavering strength and a whole lot of love, that love will always be there in many different kinds of shapes and forms.  And, that is sure a beautiful concept to grasp, and, I absolutely adored Tate, Rowan, and Elliot and their loving strength which had survived over all.

Single Dad Omega is a huge story.  Clearly, there's a lot to the storyline.  The plot is a long and detailed one with moments that both contribute both positively as well as negatively to the overall plot, as well as the pace for the overall storyline. I had wished that these moments were structured differently so as to allow a better view of various important moments, instead of the contrary.  In addition, another run through with the editing process would be beneficial so as to curtail the typos, inconsistencies, as well as the overall structure of the storyline as a whole.

As there were many times when I thoroughly enjoyed and loved reading Secret Dad Omega, there were honestly times when I almost had had enough.  Even though I thought that the wrap-up of the plethora of events that had occurred, kind of fell flat and should have, in my opinion, had more of an ending, regardless of the needed additional editing run through, I was so glad to have read about Tate and Elliot's developing relationship and was so ridiculously happy for their own special ending. They, in addition to a few of the secondary ones, had carried me through the read and I am so incredibly happy to have read that Tate and Elliot were able to find their own ray of sunshine, and, are now able to jump start their new life together, knowing that all of their loved ones continue to walk right along with them as they continue towards their own glorious rainbow, built out of love and hope for a continued strong and loving future.  I am so happy for them and their beautiful family..:)

I've read and enjoyed several books from Alice Shaw but I'm afraid I just couldn't get on with this one.
Tate is an Alpha whose Omega died several years ago in an unsolved hit and run. He has a 13 year old son, Rowan, and they live out by the lake away from the certain people who ridicule and hurl abuse at him for his stance on the corruption amongst the police force in their town. He only has his friend and boss, Sergi for support.
Elliott is a beta and new on the force in town and is sent out to the "crazy alpha" when a call comes in for an incident of a flaming torch thrown through Rowan's bedroom window. Instead a connection is felt between the two and a bond forms. Along with helping Tate try to fight against the corruption in town, Elliott has his own problem with his body blooming into becoming an omega.
I struggled to connect with the characters in this book. The MC's both have good values, Tate is a great parent, but to me, there was no real chemistry between them. I was occasionally confused as to how things were progressing with regards to the corrupt police force. One moment worked up and irate then stepping back and accepting of their fate.
The drama and bad guys were enjoyable. Corruption is always an interesting story as to why people are a part of it.
Elliott's development was interesting, going from beta to omega but to me there was no real explanation as to why it happens or where it first occurred. It is just a rare thing that has started to happen to betas.
This book does make you feel very much that it is family first, which for me is the best thing I've taken from it and a wonderful thing to get across in a book.
I received an ARC of this book and am giving an honest review

This story felt all-over the place for me. Many different things happen, none of which are adequately described or plotted out.

There is little to no worldbuilding in this book, the rules of this particulage omegaverse are very unclear. Beta's are not well-thought off, but the reason why remains a mystery. There is a sudden plot twist where some beta's start evolving into omega's. The why or how is not addressed.

The characters are not well-rounded, at all, and there's very little internal dialogue to help the reader to make sense of the MC's.

The bad guys and the corruption in the police department and the mayor's office are all very stereotypical and we get no insight whatsoever in what motivates them.
The reason for all the antagonism towards Tate is also very unclear. He is maligned and gets harrassed by the police.
He feels like an outcast, but suddenly towards the end of the book that appears to be a misapprehension on his part, because the whole town apparently roots for him. Apart from the aforementioned bad guys, of course.

There's a lot of drama surrounding the death of Tate's first omega, but that is only alluded to, maybe to up the tension?, never resolved.

Can't recommend this book.

A bit all over the place.

Ok first why is there a photo of a female baby on the cover but they had a male baby? If this tells you how the book plays out your correct. The story was ok and I enjoyed Rowan and the relationship he and his dad had.
My issues with the book is that it seemed to have no real flow. There was build up but then it all fizzled out. We still never get to the bottom of how his first omega dies, which I felt was a real miss for the book.
Also there were a few grammatical mistakes and the POV keep seeming ro shift.
And the biggest issue I had, HOW DID HE KNOW WHAT KIND OF TEA WAS IN THE GLASS?

Single Alpha Dad

I was surprised when the Single Dad was an Alpha rather than an Omega. He had been taking care of his son since the suspicious death of his Omega several years. This is a story of transformation. Can someone, something change for the good? What would it take? One known variable is that it will take time. How much time? Is it worth all that must be gone through as the transformations take place?

Not everyone wants change (transformations) they are quite content with the status quo especially since it is beneficial for them? Some people don't just grumble about coming change. They do everything they can do to oppose it - STOP it! Stop the ones trying to make the changes.

The corruption was like a rotten, stinking, gangrene that effected all those around it either into lethargy, passive or small resistances. Those vested in keeping their power, they were very intimidating.

It's harder to go up against the pestilence & transform it into something healthy and thriving when those invested in keeping things as they are. But there were those with the courage and desire to do so. They were seen as foolish for bucking the system, but when cracks began to appear - those in control became desperate & more determined to stop the ones from transforming things.

When lives were put in danger, it sparked an angry blowback - making some rethink their tactics, but they still were not ready to give up. Neither were the ones wanting the change.

As in Alice Shaw's other book(s) her Alpha and Omega main characters are emotional. Tears flow. Anger is triggered. Injustices abound. Sometimes forgiveness starts with yourself before you can make transformations around you. You have to change & accept yourself, before you can expect it of others. I enjoyed this story despite the violence, cruelty, mean tricks, but because of the good things that happened.

This is the second book in The Road To Forgiveness Series. An interesting book the writing was good. There is some weird word usage, but it was still good. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters likeable. The characters were developed and thought out. I would’ve liked more detail about the characters’ lives. Tate Highland is an Alpha and Elliot Marie is an Omega are the MC’s of this book. There was a stolen engine, family and friends, construction, police, betrayal, nasty coyotes, a mountain and more in this book.

Here is a quote from the book, “Uh huh! She said that she didn’t like Trent, but that you were a leaf,” James said, proudly. “A leaf?!” I exclaimed. “But I’m not a leaf.” “That’s what she said!” James smiled and kissed my cheek. “I think she mean’t that I was turning over a new leaf,” I said. “It’s an expression. It means that I’m starting over.” James looked confused. He pouted his lips and placed his palm right on my wound, though he didn’t know it. “Stop turning over the leafes! They are just trying to rest, dad.” James laughed loudly and acted like he just made the funniest joke in the world.”. There is more but you will need to read the book. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

I received this book by the author for an honest opinion.
This book was about Tate who after being made a widow and left with their son to raise doesn't want to start a new relationship until Elliot shows up, who after returning to his home town to look after his father. When Elliot transform from being a beta to an omega, the town's bullies and criminals start harassing them, and causing trouble and grieve for the family.
I really enjoyed this book it was a sweet friends to lovers romance with a heartfelt story to go along with the romance what with Elliott's Dad who has Alzheimer's. I really felt that the author captured all the emotions and of course the added angst with the on going campaign by the town's miscreants when the family try to clean up all the crookedness of law enforcement and town officials. A sweet read and one I will read again, a great little story with great characters and plot.
"Life is beautiful son, hold on to life's beauty, no matter what."
I also like this little snippet from the book, and without getting to sloppy so true I think💜

A new family vs a corrupt town

Tate is an Alpha single father. Several years ago an accident took his omega away and his life changed. Since then, him and his son have been the town outcasts and have dealt with a lot of bullying from the corrupt members of their town.
After one such incident, they meet new beta officer in town Elliot. Elliot is dealing with his own experiences with the town's bullies and corruption. He moved to town to take care of his father, but life in the small town is very lonely.
Tate and Elliot firm a friendship, a bond that starts immediately and builds on attraction and understanding. Suddenly they are not so alone and even more interesting, Elliot starts to change - into an omega.
Now they have a new life, together... And a new baby on the way. What will they do about the bullies and the corruption in their town? Read this amazing book to find out.
A well written story with sweet and likeable characters. This book is a definite recommendation.

This is a different type of Omegaverse story than I'm used to. In this world, a beta can somehow become an omega as an adult. When beta police officer Elliot meets widower, father, and town outcast Tate, they both feel an undeniable pull toward each other, and Elliot slowly begins to feel other changes in himself. Meanwhile, the two men and Tate's son Rowan have to deal with the local corrupt police force.
This story is not perfect, but it is definitely complex and engrossing. The main characters are good and honest, and readers will want to see them find justice and a happy ending. This is a good example of the author's great imagination. It is truly original, and I recommend it to a/b/o fans who like to see their heroes become beaten down before they fight for their HEA.

This is a wonderful, intriguing & emotional book and I really enjoyed reading it. This book is about: the trials and tribulations that a widowed alpha (Tate) and a beta law enforcement officer (Elliot) go though to get their HEA. What you will find in this book is: drama, intrigue, suspense, twists & turns, some action, enemies, corruption, danger, arson, attraction, bonding, Mpreg, lust, passion, love and erotic scenes. I found the story-line to be well thought out and written. The characters have emotional feelings according to the situation they find themselves in. I would recommend this book.

Seeking justice, seeing corruption, wanting more and finding love are the themes of this well done story. Two good men who are struggling with life events meet under less than ideal circumstances and find more than imagined. Their friendship turns to love and they navigate the changes in their love with care and trust.

Tate and Elliot are a special couple and i loved how they really stuck together and worked toward their happy ever-after. This story was well written and the story-line kept me reading all in one sitting.

I was gifted this book from the author and i freely give my review

I enjoyed this steamy M/M romance. With a engaging storyline and characters dealing with powerful, deep emotions this book is poignant and touching. Tate is still reeling from the unexpected loss of his husband. Elliot is shocked and overwhelmed by the discovery that he is not who he always thought he was. When their friendship turns to love, more changes and a surprise will cause more drama in their lives. A entertaining and enjoyable read. I'm posting an honest, voluntary review after reading this book.

Tate is an Alpha and when his mate is killed in a hit and run he becomes a single dad. The town they live in is corrupt and been causing problems for them. Elliot is a new and honest cop, wanting to help Tate. When that attraction turns into something more Elliot begins to change into an omega, can the survive the trouble the town causes for them and find a happily ever after? This is an emotional read with plenty of drama and great chemistry. The characters really draw you in, I was hooked from beginning to end.

An emotional and sweet romance story. Good storyline centered around an alpha widow, Tate, and his son, Rowan, who have been harassed in their town ever since his husband died. Newcomer Deputy Elliot responds to call at Tate's house and begins to see that Tate is not as his fellow officers presented him to be. As they grow closer, their unwavering support of one another against the corruption in the department and in the town, weaves together a beautiful love story.

Disappointed

This book had so much potential but the author fell short in too many areas. First let me say, editing is a must, the mistakes in this book were atrocious. There was no plot, too many unanswered issues and the book was all over the place. I hate wasting my money and time reading what I call "rip off" books. I had to force myself to finish. I'm not one for writing bad reviews because I respect authors for their work but this book was a negative 5 star at the most. SMH

*I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one elses*

This was a sweet story but at times fell flat. Holden and Riley were a cute couple and I enjoyed their interactions.

I felt like punching Brady repeatedly - the guy got on my nerves especially, for the way he treated both Riley and Holden.

There were several typos but nothing that would ruin the enjoyment of the book.

A little disappointing.

I wish the author wouldn't dwell on the sex parts of the story. I understand that they have to appease a certain segment of the readership so that it provides angst for them. Eliminate the sex chapters and you would have an excellent story. More time could've been spent on the corruption and arrest of the corrupted individuals.

Oh my my...I loved this story! I was engaged from the beginning to the end of this book. The connection between Tate and Elliot was amazing. The time that they spent together getting to know one another really gave them the opportunity to go to the next level...which makes their relationship so much stronger.
