This is the sequel to Donkey and Carlo. There are actually two authors attributed to this book -- Elaine Raphael and her husband, Dan Bolognese. He was the most likely of the pair to have done the illustrations, but he has written children's books in the past.
This was about 30 pages long and NOT seven, as listed here on Goodreads.
If you haven't heard of the Donkey and Carlo series, don't despair. There's a good reason why you haven't heard of it -- it just wasn't very good. With this book in particular, nothing really happens. The duo get ready for winter. It'll be Donkey's first winter. Carlo gates winter. There's a windstorm, then it snows. That's pretty much it.
Gee whiz.
Donkey doesn't talk, but does act like a person in a Donkey suit. He even has his stall in Carlo's house. He doesn't much act like a Donkey.
I'm not enthusiastic about checking out the previous book in the series. If it wasn't for the goofy line illustrations, I'd have given this just one star.
