Bryan Collins begins his book series, BECOME A WRITER TODAY... by naming reasons writers often do not advance with their writing such as writer’s block, self-doubt, procrastination, fear etc. He encourages writers to keep going no matter what level they are at. Collins renders a detailed explanation of ways to overcome all of these blocks, at the same time he offers over a hundred writing prompts to get the writing process flowing. This book is a positive manifesto full of practice techniques for all genres of writers.

Collins, who is a supporter of journal writing, details other writers in history who took their notebooks with them daily to write down ideas, descriptions, feelings, and inspirations. What is enjoyable in Collin's book is the personal and historical anecdotes of those who wrote in the past and also his description of his own writing journey. Collins remains humble about the subject of writing, understanding the potential pain within the writing process, but also understanding the driving force of those who yearn to write.

Collins offers tools for writers at the end of his book: writers’ websites, editorial help, book covers, formatting, and places to get beta readers. Clearly, this author has done his homework. He also lists references where he got his information from, a huge stockpile to glean further research on the subject. Finally, a big bonus at the end of the book is the free video training he offers.

BECOME A WRITER TODAY.. is written with a genuine intent to motivate and spur authors forward as they develop and practice their craft. By the end of this book, it is clear that any excuses not to write are overpowered by Collin’s thorough research into the writer’s mindset. Collins genuinely wants to help other writers, and he has done more legwork in order to offer writers productive outlets and mentoring connections, than most books about writing have done before him.
