The latest bestseller from Western bestseller Fred Staff. If you loved the popular Bass Reeves series from Fred Staff you will love this new adventure!
If you liked Revenant, the highly-acclaimed movie, you will be spellbound by Wilderness Survival. Revenant was based on the story of Hugh Glass and his struggle for survival. Indomitable is based on the story of Larcena Pennington, who suffered more and accomplished far more than Hugh Glass. Her story makes Revenant look like a walk in the park.
The Larcena Pennington story will leave the reader in a state of wonderment. The reader will think that it is pure fiction, because the challenges she faces seem so impossible that no one could have survived, but this novel is based on her life and many of the escapades are true as written. That is why INDOMITABLE was the only word that described her many trials and conquest.
This historical western novel captures a great story of Arizona and some of the people that were involved in its development. In my research I have fond many a great person or event, but seldom have I found one that contains insurmountable challenges, sheer determination, exhibitions of great religious faith and unchallenged family ties.
Fred Staff is a retired history teacher who has devoted his writting to historical novels. He is a native of Oklahoma and totally taken by the many stories of the Indian Territory. He spends many hours in research and strives to make his stories educational as well as entertaining.
I have really enjoyed reading this book. Fred gave me a look into how people had to survive in those days. The women had to be tough or they could not survive in that untamed land. I also like how he uses the language as they talked in those days. They were not as educated as we are today, but I could understand every word he wrote. I really enjoyed this book I have read it twice, well worth a read. Thank you Fred Staff for a really great read.
This was a good story that keeps your interest but I certainly did not like the ending. Perhaps I'm too used to stories ending in everyone lives "happily ever after" but this was not the case here. Was it a good book? Yes. Would I recommend reading it? Yes, again. Was I disappointed with the ending? Certainly!
Well plotted story that is in sequence but so overloaded with bad grammer, misspelling and incorrect words that reading it was far more effort than it was worth.
