Une plongée dans un monde exotique et violent où des adeptes du vaudou, des chasseurs de primes, des barbouzes et un milliardaire japonais ? qui semble cultiver bien des secrets dans ses serres tropicales géantes ? s'affrontent sans merci pour un enjeu crucial.

"H2O" is a French eco-thriller from 2004, set mostly in Réunion and Madagascar as well as in East Asia. The author Patrick Nottret has written three environmental thrillers featuring the extremely likeable investigator Pierre Sénéchal, who works for the fictional environmental agency FREDE. (Unfortunately I don't think his books have ever been translated into English, or has it? Correct me if I am wrong. There are both German and Italian translations, though.)
Conclusion: thrilling, sometimes action-packed and topical in its subject matter, but sometimes quite unrealistic, but hey, it's a novel!

"H2O" ist ein französischer Umweltthriller von 2004 (Erscheinungsjahr in Deutschland 2009), der größtenteils in Réunion und Madagaskar sowie in Ostasien spielt. Der Autor Patrick Nottret hat gleich drei Umweltthriller mit dem äußerst sympathischen Ermittler Pierre Sénéchal geschrieben, der für die fiktive Umweltbehörde FREDE arbeitet.
Fazit: Spannend, auch mal actionreich und in seiner Thematik aktuell, dafür immer mal wieder ziemlich unrealistisch, aber hey, es ist ein Roman!

Excellent thriller about an unusual subject playing in exotic places. I especially like that it draws attention to two big problems of today: environmental protection and lack of water.
