Urban Spirituality: Embodying God's Mission in the Neighborhood
Do we have a positive theology of the city so that an urban spirituality can emerge from this place? We have for too long focused on quick fixes, pop up churches, and strategic solutions which have left us malnourished and emaciated, yet bloated from our over-consumption of these unsatisfying approaches. Spiritual formation is something that we need to pay closer attention to today. How do we live this kind of holy life in the city?

An insightful and convicting book about practicing a contextualised faith - rather than looking inwards and retreating from the world, we are encouraged to look outwards.
“It seems that increasingly we are more interested in our internal church machinery… we concern ourselves with the details of pastoral care of church members, keeping over-fed christians comfortable and preaching a gospel that is often disembodied from the context in which we are meant to be embodying it”.
This book challenges us to look outside the church for the ways God is working in his whole creation, and then join with him in his mission.
Whilst the arguments are founded on theology and frameworks that are unfamiliar to mine and at times conflicting with Sydney Anglicanism™️, i found the conclusions and practical ideas really helpful and thought provoking.
Half star deduction because there were several spelling errors :(
