I love many of the hymns translated from German and wanted to know more of their history and authors. Anyone titling this book today would likely have called it "Christian Hymnists of Germany." The author describes the historical context and literary developments that the hymnwriters were part of, from early German hynmnody until her present, 1850s. I found it quite interesting.
