This is an easy read about Marni, a young woman with disfiguring facial scarring. She is so overcome by sensitivity about her scarring; she convinces herself she will never find happiness and becomes a virtual recluse confined to her grandparents' home. By accident, she meets Daniel, a young doctor disguised as a farmworker. Predictably, a romance blooms between them.
The author crafts lovable characters, employs vivid imagery and deals with the characters' feelings empathetically. Despite the predictable plot, this is a worthwhile read.
Curl up on the couch on a cloudy day and read this novel.

A beautiful, inspiring and uplifting story. As a reader I was moved by the journey of several of the major characters, but particularly by Marni and Daniel, whose tolerance, understanding and compassion for others is a lesson in this troubled age. At a time when we hear of so much negativity, narcissism and conflict, it is rewarding to read such a positive and ultimately joyous tale. Here are two people who are guided by their faith and use their gifts to help those less fortunate and those who have fallen on hard times. They are, thankfully, surrounded mostly by supportive families and community, although they do encounter some who would wish them harm and must face this challenge in a forthright and positive way. The story benefits, too, from its setting - the great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, a place of obviously rare beauty which comes alive in the narrative. Another highly recommended story from Crystal Mary Lindsey. I will certainly be reading more from this author.

The Mystery Healer of Smoky Mountain is a tale set in the Appalachian Mountains of Tennesee. The main character, Marni, is a young woman plagued by insecurity due to an accident that burned one side of her face. She feels she will never find true love.

Daniel, a doctor ahead of his time, struggles to help others with needed reconstructive surgery while having to keep his work a secret from the world. Daniel's character is loving, strong, and with a will to help others.

It's a romantic story, but not without its own troubles. Can Daniel & Marni find love together? A very inspirational and uplifting romance set in 1885. I enjoyed learning about some of the histories of the town. The descriptions of the area made me feel like I was there with the characters.

Hidden in the Great Smokey Mountains of East Tennessee is a mystery healer. At the bottom of the mountain resides a young lady by the name of Marni Granger. She has a childhood scar, a burn from a scalding of a hot pot. The effects of being ridiculed profoundly affected Marni and when she grew up, she hardly got out of her grandpa’s house. One day she took her beloved wolf/dog with her to pick berries, and that’s when calamity struck, but then something good comes out of it. Daniel comes into the plot. He's a reconstructive doctor that dedicates his expertise in providing extraordinary and compassionate care to his patients. This tale seized the compassion and welcoming disposition of the folks that reside in the high country and was written with an author’s love for her savior, Jesus Christ. Stimulating and inspired with romance, Crystal Mary Lindsey’s knowledge of the history of the area expands over a century back. A clean, heartfelt God-centered read.

The Mystery Healer of Smoky Mountain was not a mystery at all. This plot lacked a lot of things but first and foremost a problem and a climax. The story was very slow and it was difficult to continue reading.
The elements in the plot seemed choppy to me, without a nice flow of events. The author spent a few chapters developing the characters in the beginning of the story, and then the book has a dramatic switch and you don’t really experience these characters again.
The author did bring in elements of faith and the Holy Spirit which I liked, but the seemed overly spiritualized with angels and prophetic dreams. It was spooky the way the main character decided to just live in someone’s house as a single woman who’s been lost in the woods for days.

Overall I think the book, the plot and the flow of elements need a little more development. This book is suitable for teen readers and so was given a free copy in exchange for this review.

Surprising story about a young woman with an obvious facial scar, who inadvertently meets a young doctor at first disguised as a farm laborer and offers to help her grandfather. Somehow, she's spiritually guided to his mountain home remaining with him (ignoring norms of the era) until his parents arrive, thus realizing his true identity and romantic intentions. Somewhere between being somewhat confusing but simplistic in presentation and plot with a predictable outcome, this book could pass for a YA book. More concerning aspects involved grammar usage and formatting, especially the difference between plurals and possessives in addition to dashes and commas. Would highly recommend the use of Grammarly.com to assist with editing these aspects. However, book cover is eye-catching and title entices one to read this Smoky Mountain inspirational romance.

Such a clean written story regarding faith and inspiration. Set in the Smoky mountains in the 1800’s, Marni, a young woman who has a scar on her face and is self conscious about it, comes in contact with a mysterious man, Daniel, who is a doctor. Will he be able to fix the scar on her face while keeping his work a secret? Will their friendship turn into more based on their trust with each other and will the consequences forever change both their lives? This is a new to me author and I enjoyed her book.

All words and opinions are my own. I was given a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley for my honest opinion.

This is a quick read. In all honesty I wish the story was more developed. I liked Marni and her grandfather right away. I can undderstand her unease about her facial scarring. There are several good characters but the timeline for some of the activities in the book are off. (Too much advancement in a weeks time with the process of puppies. Emphasis on a harvest event that disappears in the story.)
Overall it is a fairly good read for an evening. I do appreciate the faith shown and the kindness to others. I received this book from the publisher and NetGalley. This is my own unsolicited opinion.

What a Sweet Love Story!

Marni met a stranger when led to a cabin in the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee by a mysterious woman dressed in white. Daniel, a doctor who lived in the cabin, had studied plastic surgery in France, but plastic surgery was not an accepted practice in the United States. Marni had suffered a disfiguring burn injury as a child and was very sensitive about the looks strangers gave her. Daniel offered to do surgery to remove the scars. Would the surgery be successful? Read this book to find out! I really enjoyed reading this book.

Great Romance

Lindsey pens a great story in The Mystery healer of Smoky Mountains. Lindsey always writes clean, romantic stories that revolve around faith, not just faith in God, but themselves. I enjoyed this story, and Lindsey writes it well. It was a very light-hearted and inspirational story. I enjoyed not just the budding romance, but the premise behind finding each other. I look forward to reading more by this author.

This book is a good read. Set in the 1800s in rural America, its a nice story about love, life and a bit of mystery thrown in. It gives a great insight into the life of the times.

It was a bit slow at the beginning but once you got into the book it'll have you gripped so you can find out what happens next.

A sweet, faith-filled romance about a scarred young woman and a mysterious farmhand who turns out to be much more than he seems. The story is light, inspirational, and rooted in themes of faith and self-acceptance. While the plot is somewhat predictable and the writing could use a bit of editing. A clean, uplifting read for fans of gentle love stories.

Needs some editing

The story rambled and was sometimes hard to follow. The basic storyline was OK, but it got lost in other characters’ stories or thoughts. It seems like the writer is somewhat new and wanted to pack a lot of different things into one story.

Enlightening

A very interesting story and well written. Some true ideas of life in the Smoky Mountains in the late 1800's. Beliefs have certainly changed for the better.
