Gary Graff doesn't want to go to his family's boring reunion, but when he surveys his family members to finish his math homework-a graphing assignment-Gary learns a lot about graphing and his family-and has a lot of fun, too!
Excellent presentation of concepts, interesting storyline, and great educational value. I read this with my 4-year-old and 6-year-old. Both grasped the concept of graphs during the story and understood their purpose and value. I'm not sure a kid would get as great an understanding reading on their own, but for a bedtime book read by a parent, it was wonderful.
Caleb (age 4): "I didn't know about graphs, but now I like them. I want to make a pie graph for hair color. I'm guessing most of my family has brown and black hair."
