I am sure most of us can remember the first time we fell in love, and we are often tempted to believe that such feelings does not last forever so we try desperately to enjoy the moment. if you are a true romantic you will definitely enjoy "Only Love is Real"
The idea behind the story is cute, and it had some good concepts, but it was tough to get through. The characters, all of them, sounded young and acted immature. The dialogue was overly simple because of it. I don't think any of their emotions were developed well. They had a knee-jerk reaction to almost everything.
Then the storyline...it tried to do too much and didn't do anything justice. Had the story only followed the broken relationship with her mother, or the budding romance, it would have been much better. The two combined didn't allow either one to be done well. Had it been a novel versus a short story, it would have had time to build each plot line.
I didn't absolutely hate it, but I didn't enjoy it either. I do see potential in the concept of the story, but that execution left a lot to be desired.
2.5 stars. In this book, Delilah and her father work in the family business of being magicians for events. Growing up Delilah idolized her parents' relationship. Delilah is hopeful that she will have a relationship like her parents. Delilah has loved magic since she was three years old. One day her mom goes missing after work. After her mom's disappearance Delilah's love of magic dissipated. One person named Johnny Redbone, her father's new apprentice makes Delilah feel gleeful about magic again. Delilah eventually finds out what happened to her mother and Delilah's anger toward her mother implodes. Luckily Delilah has Johnny to calm her down and to confide in. This book was okay. I don't know why but I feel as though Delilah was portrayed a bit more juvenile than she was supposed to be. I also didn't enjoy the writing style of the book. it was too all over the place for my liking.
