Suzanne Parker hates her new life. She used to have wicked friends and a boyfriend old enough to buy beer, but her parents freaked out and moved her to the vanilla suburb of Benowa. Now all she has is her dog, a silent cell phone, and a jock named Gabriel who keeps trying to be her “friend.”But Gabriel--football player and member of student council--is more than the stereotypical face he presents to the world. If she chooses magic, Suzanne is stuck in Benowa with Gabriel forever; if she doesn’t, she’ll be free, but alone and vulnerable to other Elementals who want her power for themselves. And Gabriel is not the only one who has noticed her…

I really enjoyed this book by a new author. The main character Suzanne is a strong female character. While she sometimes makes questionable choices, she then found herself having to deal with the consequences of her choices. I thought the dialogue was realistic as were the character interactions. I hope we get to hear more about Suzanne in future books.

Great pacing kept me reading this when I should have been doing other things. The relationships are interesting and the magic great. I loved it.
