The Lamb Was Sure To Go

Rate this book
Mary had a little Lamb.

Its fleece was white as snow.

Everywhere that Mary went

The Lamb was sure to go.

The Antichrist has been born, and Father Atticus knows it…

Father Atticus is plagued with visions of foreboding evil, but no one will believe him. They call him crazy and lock him in an asylum.

Outside the walls of his cell, he can feel it growing stronger, year by year. The blood is already flowing. Satan’s sacrifice has begun. If the priest doesn’t escape soon, it will be too late.

A strange, grotesque little girl, and her horrifying pet…

Mary is shunned and hated by the other children, her teachers, even her parents, who nearly killed her at birth.

Mary is loyal only to Lamb, and to the Voice, which guides her and gives her purpose. Those who wronged her will soon be fodder for the one she serves, their deaths feeding his power and bringing about an even greater evil…

Is the world ready for its new master?

I received this book through Enticing Journey for an honest review.
I definitely enjoyed this book! It puts a unique twist on Mary had a little lamb. I watch and read a good deal of horror and some parts of this book actually grossed me out. I don't usually feel bad for the antagonist but there were times when I did in this book. I would recommend this book to any horror or thriller fan. After reading this I will be checking out her other books. If you want to check out my entire review you can check out my blog entertaininglynerdy.com.

So get ready for Jackie Sonnenberg to freak you right out! My favorite genre is horror and I was extremely excited to read The Lamb Was Sure To Go. Be ready for your pants to be scared off, I mean what more could you possibly want? Edge of your seat and eyes glued to the pages with visualizing horror. Father Atticus is not crazy, he knows what is coming. They lock him away and his cell becomes his own personal hell. Mary is loyal to the dark and she will get even, so if you have wronged her or the darkness then BEWARE!!

Book: The Lamb Was sure to go
Author: Jackie Sonnenberg
Series: yresrun Semyhr book 2
Genre: dark, suspense
Release Date: May 8th 2018
Rating : 5 Stars

This book will make you never look at fairytales the same.

Father Atticus has been having what I would call visions that Satan has started with the sacrifices and this world is in trouble.

A little girl is treated so badly by everyone even her parents but she knows what she does serves him and he will.make them all pay , pay in blood and pain.
Mary had a little lamb and oh what she gets done.
Mary has her lamb who is as demonic as she is and they are paving the way for Satan.

If you love very very dark read this is for you!!!

I dont read many horror books because they dont seem to have that grab you by the collar and not let you go till you have hit the last page. Well, I am happy to say that this one...this one did just what I needed! I didnt know that there was one before this but I am happy to say that you can read it as a stand alone, sad for me cause that means another book has been added to my TBR, or good for me, depending on how you look at it. All I can say is I hope that someone gets their hands on this story and turn it into a movie.

‘THE LAMB WAS SURE TO GO’ by Jackie Sonnenberg, is bloody roller coaster ride through a hellish interpretation of a nursery rhyme [‘Mary had a little lamb’], if the nursery rhyme was turned into a Universal Halloween Horror Nights funhouse.

Mary Smythe (in the book) is a well-developed and well-defined character who echoes the essence of horror’s greatest spookiest children such as Damien Thorn (‘The Omen’), Andrew Woodhouse (‘Rosemary’s Baby’), Carrie White (‘Carrie’), Alessa Gillespie (‘Silent Hill’), Gage Creed (‘Pet Sematary’), and Regan MacNeil (‘The Exorcist’). Moral of the story: don’t f’ with Mary or her little lamb.

I accidentally stumbled upon Jackie Sonnenberg (and her books) at the Shop of Wonders store in Islands of Adventure (Universal Studios), as she was doing a book signing that day. Consider it fate or a sign, as an avid book collector and fan of horror, I couldn’t resist picking a copy up. Within the first chapter, I was hooked.

Great, intense read that makes you wonder, ‘how come this hasn’t been made yet.’ And while you wonder that thought, the concept of this book could’ve been done in many ways. As I was reading it, I kept on picturing either a very corny ‘80s film like ‘Motel Hell,’ or a slasher movie during the ‘90s Dimension era, or an off-the-wall After Dark Horrorfest film, or even the newest season of ‘American Horror Story.’

Clearly, Author Jackie Sonnenberg is a fan of horror, and ‘THE LAMB WAS SURE TO GO’ is a heartfelt homage to the blood and guts of horror. Well done, well written, and well executed. I will be checking out more of her writing (‘yresruN semyhR’) in the near future, and you should be checking out this book now.

In this second book of the "yresruN semyhR" (Nursery Rhyme backwards) series, Jackie Sonnenberg takes the old rhyme "Mary had a Little Lamb" and inverts it into a chilling horror novel. In this book, which will remind readers of "The Exorcist", "Rosemary's Baby", and "The Omen", a Catholic priest, Father Atticus, has been having terrible visions of a demonic child, and her evil lamb, who will work in tandem to create a path for Satan to roam the Earth, unaware that two of his parishioners, farmers Stanley and Flo, are responsible for the child, Mary, and the animals who are responsible for the aforementioned lamb. It's not for everyone, though: The novel conjures up the unease of the flawed nature of humanity, with the starkness of pure satanic evil and while there's some relief as the reader gets closer to the end, getting to that point may prove to be a little bit difficult for the more squeamish readers.

Still, to me, it is important, sometimes, to not sanitize the mechanical aspects of the world we live in, especially in horror. It may force you to sympathize with some pretty questionable people, but that is, sometimes, how the real world works. If none of that bothers you, make sure to read this title.

This is a very “LAME” Book - WEAK AND PATHETICALLY BAD

The plot of this story is so inconceivable it offends ANY AND ALL sense of credibility!! The author must have been desperate to put her thoughts to print in an attempt at publishing “ANYTHING”. I’d read one of her earlier books “The Little Dog Smiled” and gave it a good review due to its originality and horror. This book however, could have been dreamt in a child’s nightmare and and dismissed you the parent as only a bad dream. This book is rivals any bad dream, it’s so bad!!!

Let me start with the note that I am not normally an MG reader. But I liked the first in the collection (My Soul To Keep) and wanted to continue reading. This book is a nice intro for MG readers into the darker side of horror that plays on religious themes. Jackie did a nice job using some tradition horror elements and adds her own twist to them. Without giving away spoilers, it has a nice perspective for someone from that age range while touching on the lives of the parents who have to raise a disfigured and developmentally disabled child. If you are looking for a unique and interesting perspective on the anti-christ, this might be for you.

I got the privilege to meet Jackie Sonnenberg in person and decided to go for this book. The formatting was wack, some sentences dropped off into the void and picked up on the next page, all that simply from lack of high budget publishing. But wow, Sonnenberg has a wild way of writing. I say that with the most respect possible.
You think you are a normal horror fan? Wait until you read this book and the characters do things that make you but the book over your face so you can think about what just happened.
100% picking up more of her books, I am so glad I was able to find this book and author. Criminally underrated author.
