Who among us would not want some extra help? Elizabeth Bennet, at the age of fourteen, discovers her helper while hiding in a tree. She refers to him as her guardian. Fitzwilliam Darcy’s helper speaks to him for the first time immediately after his father’s funeral. So, what help can these unseen voices provide? More than either Elizabeth or Darcy could ever imagine. For Elizabeth, it begins with help hiding from her mother, encouragement when her mother scolds and reprimands her, and advice during a summer trip to Ramsgate. For Darcy, it is advice about how to proceed as master of an estate and advice about love. What more help could one need?

“One of the best parts of being a Guardian is that we get a chance to grow and change. We get to exist in both worlds. We know the secret of life and have the knowledge of death” –Mackie Burt, Above
Our story was a fantasy with a paranormal element where both Darcy and Elizabeth have a spirit guide, guardian, or maybe they were a ghost. For Darcy, the spectral was plainly his mother. The identity of Elizabeth’s guardian was not revealed until later so she simply called him Alex. Both Darcy and Elizabeth could talk to and discuss issues and concerns with their guardians. As they grew up, they received advice and problem-solving strategies that were important to them.
“Everyone was born with a guardian angel. Guardian angels brighten our journey of life with divine love, protection, peace, healing, grace, strength and miracles.” –Lailah Gifty Akita
Ramsgate: Elizabeth, with the advice of Alex, was instrumental in guiding Georgiana through what could have been a disastrous time in her life. Due to their intervention, it was merely a bump in the road of life for the teenager and she escaped unscathed. Wickham; however, swore revenge and retribution for being thwarted in his attempt to garner Georgiana’s dowry.
Netherfield: Bingley leased Netherfield Park and Darcy agreed to help him learn the management of his first estate. Georgiana arrived with him so she could continue her friendship with Miss Elizabeth. Since Georgiana was not out, Darcy attended the assembly without her. He shocked his party by first dancing with Elizabeth and then, at her encouragement, danced with several ladies of the community [Charlotte and all Lizzy’s sisters, except Lydia]. This was the first time Darcy had ever enjoyed an assembly. Caroline was fit to be tied and she certainly showed her stripes while Darcy was installed at Netherfield. The Bingley in this story had a bit of backbone as he attempted to rein in his sister.
What I didn’t like: the editing was horrid. Names were spelled one way in one chapter and another way later. The story seriously suffered from the number of errors, missing words, missing letters, incomplete sentences, continuity problems, tedious rambling, etc., etc.
What I did like: in spite of the errors and issues with propriety, probability, dialogue, and such… I did enjoy the story. It was creatively done and would have been an excellent story if it had been properly edited.

This Pride and Prejudice variation features "guardians" for Elizabeth and Darcy during the course of their lives. These helpers guide them through very trying situations - the death of Darcy's father and dealing with Mrs Bennet. The story follows canon with the addition of Elizabeth meeting Georgiana in Ramsgate to prevent the Wickham situation to start.
It is quite interesting to follow the story where there is less pride and prejudice between the characters but there is still angst. The conclusion of the story was very touching - more than the happily ever after.
I enjoyed the characters and plot of this story. As always Wickham met a horrible end because of his behavior. Unfortunately, the book is poorly edited. At times the change in tense, spelling, and word choice causes problems in sentence flow. Darcy and Elizabeth 's guardian angels made the book enjoyable in spite of the grammatical errors.
Amaxon should have paid me to read this poorly editted book
Correcting all the mistakes was exhausting. Is the writer unseasoned, inexperienced, or just without proofreaders? I liked the novelty of the theme, the writing, however, while not awful, was full of run-on sentences, misused homonyms, improper punctuation: many on a page, on many pages in a row. It sometimes looked like some rewriting had been attempted, but the language not cleaned up from the effort. All of which gives me a bad impression of the author.
The implication in the story is that some people get guardian angels, kind of. The rules for this aren’t spelled out. But if it was true, it would mean some few people are singled out for protection by a higher power.
It smacks of there being a breeding program overseen by a higher being. Interesting.
I enjoy this kind of semi-spiritual theme of having a guardian angel, and have read other P+P versions that have used it. In this book the basic story events are glossed over with some rather long paragraphs, written in a simplistic way with a lot of repetitions. For example, we're told many times what the guardians can and cannot do, and we're reminded ad nauseam that Lizzy and Darcy must be careful to not speak with their guardians in front of others. Much of the text I skimmed over quickly knowing it was rehashing the same things. It was, however, a nice low-angst story.
As much as enjoyed the story I found it difficult at times to read. I discovered while reading, words that were spelled incorrectly. To the tune of 25 or more throughout the book. The misspelled words were extremely distracting and made the book a difficult read.
Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy are given guardians to guide them during difficult stages in their lives. It makes our couple better humans and provides insight that everyone in the world could use. A cute story with some angst. A fun read, minor typos but nothing too upsetting.
I liked how Far y and Elizabeth each had a guarding Angel looking after them. I liked how Elizabeth meet Georgianna. Mr Wickham and Caroline B were worse, this was true colors it seemed. The Bennet family was different, but in a nice way. Enjoyed and would recommend this book.
Novel idea for P&P with both Darcy and Elizabeth going through their young adulthood with "guardians". A little guidance for both changes the trajectory of some of our story. I took a star off for misspelling/grammar issues, and the story dragged a bit in places. All in all, a good enjoyable read.
Not much to altered story except for supernatural beings. Largest number of incorrect homonyms (perhaps due to speech to text programs) ever in my reading experience. Needs much proofreading.
A very different P&P variation. Other than the many grammatical and spelling errors, this was an enjoyable read. I will look forward to more from this author.
Highly recommended. I am always interested in inventive approaches to Pride and Prejudice. This author did not disappoint. How different would life be if we all had guardian angels.
Interesting concept. Really the only problem with this book Is the lack of proofreading as well as the punctuation. The proofreading would have made the readers life less difficult
