Jack and Diane were two average Americans living in small towns, or so it seems. Jack is a prepper and has been most of his life. The day started out like any other; Diane and Jack started their morning routines and equipped their every day carry items. Survival is for the prepared.
But when disaster strikes the United States, Jack's lifetime of preparing will be put to the test. Grabbing his two dogs and their bugout bags, the duo must escape their hometowns and find a safe place to seek shelter. What really happened and will Jack's years of prepping be enough to keep them all safe?

*** Authors This was written as a Short Read. My intention was to write a series of short stories. Starting with book four, however, that changes. Book four (mid to late April 2019 release) and on will be novel length books.
This has the potential to be a good story. To short to say it's a book. Characters need more details, it was kinda jarring how the MC and female character are introduced to the reader, then suddenly they are a couple . Not sure why so much detail was included on the diet preferences of the MC ? Doesn't matter to the story line. Also a cabin he's been invested in should have already been prepared for a garden and had at least herbs already growing . A prepper knows about the many medicinal and dietary benefits of many herbs. To not have one but have two safety rooms in different houses stemmed odd. Why mention paracord to tie to a chickens leg ? Already at the feed store, buy some wire to make a pen . Two big dogs but no mention of dog food or any things for vet issues . The story just ends ? Possible intruders, mysterious errand that has to be done on Monday. Radiation happened on Friday, it's sat they walk to town and are alarmed by the crowds. Then the story just ends. Seriously maybe 2 1/2 chapters. It's a blurb .
I read a lot. This book had the makings of a good read, but the writing was a little sloppy, and it ended before I could even get into the story. Two or three chapters do not make a book. It should have been marked as a "sample".
First of all, this book is a cliffhanger. It stops very abruptly, at about what would be midpoint of a short book. Then, although the book is based in America, with American characters, I'm betting the author is not from around here. It is ok to write a book based in another country, but have at least one character from your native country, to cover up the inevitable mistakes. Then there is the unbelievably stilted writing, which actually made me cringe a couple of times. It's just unacceptable. The plot was predictable and there's no way that some of the actions could have happened as described. Results: I cannot recommend this. I applaud the author or being able to write a book, but I hope he polishes his craft, and does better in the future.
This has a premise that was a little different which can make for a nice change. It is way, way too short. I get that there is a series planned but each book in the series should be longer than a couple of chapters. It was badly undercut by the writing, I'm sorry to say. There are a lot of errors and the writing style is incredibly awkward and stilted. It had the feel of reading someone's hurried diary entries. There was no good flow and coupled with the extreme brevity of the book, no way to get invested in the characters or the danger at hand.

The start of this book was quite dense with info dumps and overly descriptive details of routines.
I wasn't keen on the writing style. It felt more like a report or a list of what happened.
I was curious about the plot and what was going to happen, though.
The characters were ok but I wanted to know more about Diane. Jack treated her as if she's silly or needs babysitting through everything just because she wasn't a pepper like him and it was a little annoying, especially because he was keeping a lot of things hidden from her.
The ending seemed sudden and while I can see that the author did it to keep readers guessing and to encourage them to read the next book, it was still unsatisfying.

Its not a bad story, but the writing style is atrocious to the point where I kept putting it down after reading for 20 minutes and reading another book. Jack said " ....." Diane said"..." Mark said "...." Jack stood up and walked to the window. Jack looked out the window. Jack turned around and looked at Diane. Diane looked at Jack. Jack said "..."
It read to much like " fun with Dick and Jane to be enjoyable at all.
A very suspenseful story and unfortunately so true in today's world. This book is just the beginning. Jack and Diane are a couple living in the Pacific northwest of The United States of America when disaster strikes. This is just the beginning of their story. The characters and plot are right out of today's headlines. A very good 👍 read.
This was a very good beginning for the book waiting to be born. Jack and Dianne are interesting characters and Jack has just a bit of mystery about him. The plot is well set up. I would love to read the next chapter.
I read a lot of prepper stories because they reflect the world as it is and easily could be. This book is short, more of a chapter than a book but it does pull you in to want more. I hope the next book is out soon.
Well written story with characters that are believable. If the story was a little longer the characters would be more well rounded. I look foeward to the next installment.
Great book. Exactly my kind of read. But way too short. The whole book was like only one chapter. It will be too much trouble to keep buying all the books in the series. I doubt I’ll go through the trouble.
Not a book. Just a short chapter at that. Not very well developed but could be a good series, probably. I'll try the next "book" when it comes out. (Not saying I could do any better). Good luck.
This was a short but good story of what every prepper wishes they could do. In the event of SHTF I'll have to just bug in with my family, dog and guns.
